They failed to remove my current overdraft on my instruction. Which in turn allowed retailers to have the impression i had available funds. When they were putting my transactions through. As retailers have to confirm this before they take a payment.
Retailers do not always confirm available funds before putting a transaction through. If you have an overdraft, you will in all likelihood have an offline Visa Debit or Maestro.
So the bank didn't cancel your overdraft, that does not entitle you to a £1200 goodwill gesture. Even the Obudsman agrees, you don't deserve compensation. At the very most there have been some customer service failings, but ultimately you are to blame for this situation arising.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -

I'd like to know why you think it's your bank's responsibility to watch over your money. Why don't you check your account (there are plenty of cash points on the high street, and many in or right outside shops.) before spending money. How can you blame the bank for being utterly careless?0

Sorry meant to "Quote" not "Thank". What difference does it make if the bank admit they are at fault? This is clearly an exercise in trying to blow out of proportion your banks liability for this situation and get some compensation off the back of it.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. sorry that pm wasnt meant for you. My mistake. Secondly. The bank has confirmed finally that if the overdraft had been taken away the payments wouldn have come out. And no sorry banks to not allow me or you to go 1000s overdrawn. Sorry you are wrong.
Yes they do. If you do not believe me go to the Reclaims board and ask for examples!
The fact is, you think you are right but have no proof. Hilarious.
Also DNFTT? Do not ? this troll?0 -
