If you are using EXCEL macro's then a MAC is not a good idea as you cannot do it! Unhelpful I know!
I had to install WIndows 7 on my laptop to write some macro. Otherwise I'm very happy with my Mac and wouldn't consider getting a PC. I sure lots of people will disagree but I've had enough of having to reinstall windows everything the thing crashes or gets infected with spyware. I've had my Mac for almost a year now and it has yet to crash (I did have to reboot to install Snow Leopard! and the recent updates also have required me to reboot, however I'm still waiting for my first crash.......
My advice, buy a mack and don't look back!0 -
Quite a lot of new PC´s have Dual-Core processors and above, so don't think you need a Mac for that processor. Macs don't quite have as many applications available as Windows-based machines, so you may loose some of the things you need. Macs usually cost a lot more than comparable machines as well. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

Apple make fantastic computers. They're very well put together, have some very nice features, and they're very nice to use. Comparable PCs usually cost the same or more than a Mac.
As for browsers, all the major ones are available for the Mac with the exception of Internet Explorer. There are even some very nice browser available for the Mac that are not available for Windows (such as OmniWeb, Shiira, and Camino).0 -
Got the wife a 15" Macbook Pro for Christmas. I got to have a go. Then got myself the 17" Macbook Pro. After having a PC since the early 90's, I have not looked back.
We are both definately Mac converts.0 -

To be honest, there is nothing one can do that the other can't. They can both do the same things.
9 times out of 10 the hardware will be a lot cheaper to buy with the PC, and the componants will be cheaper too. PC's have a higher compatibility rate as it still dominates the home and business market. (more than 90% of the worlds computers use windows)
Windows 7 is every bit as swish as MAC os.0 -

Macs are great computers, but they are overpriced in my opinion and over the top for the average user. In fact many professionals I know who claim they need a Mac have more difficulty with it than I do with a windows based machine.
In my opinion, if you have the money for a mac, you would be better getting a well specced windows machine. You mentioned dual core - most pcs for sale now are and I would not even look at one that wasn't. For mac money, you could easily get a quad core laptop.0 -
