Sit down and work out how much you spend in 2 weeks. Does the £50 include rent payments utility payments? I would speak to the bank and state that you are struggling on JSA and need help and see what they suggest and repost on here.
Have you looked into opening another account with another bank and simply pay off the account bit by bit?

No the rent is just that - utility bills seperate. I have another account with Halifax- with just a book and 28p in, will have to arrange benefit to be paid into there. It doesn't help this fortnight but will next JSA and housing benefit. Don't know if another bank will take me till am working again.

will re-post when spoken to Halifax and sorted things as I cannot see where I have been over the overdraft for 8 days!

. Thank you for your time.

    Hi

I am trying to reclaim my charges. I have had cards in the past that are now paid off. I dont have any statements or card numbers. Is there anyway I can try get this information. Have checked my credit file but it only shows the company no account details.

    Thanks

Yep, but we will see if we can get the numbers first. Did you pay by Direct Debit/Standing Order?
Did you pay by online transfer?

Yes, you can do a data protection request letter (template available in the MSE guide to reclaiming credit card charges).
If you don't have the exact account details, give whatever details you do have that will help the company identify you.

hiya, im after some help please. i wrote to barclays telling them all about my financial hardship and wanted to claim my charges back. they have finally replied saying that because my account is closed there is nothing they can do to help!

is that right? can they say that?

im still paying off the overdraft/charges to them every month, funny how they can take money off me even though the account is closed but they can't give any back innit!!

any advice would be very much appreciated as i don't know what to do next? ombudsman maybe?

    thanks guys

Why are you in financial hardship? What was the cause?
How is the account currently making your financial hardship worse if you are not using the account?

hiya, im claiming from an old account of mine and an old joint account. i owe them roughly £500 on one and £200 on another (they are overdrafts and charges)
i have been paying (through the help of cab) 84p a month on one and £1.05 on the other every month since 2005:exclamati :o

i have sent them copies of red letters, proof of low income and reminded them the amount i am paying them each month which will take me forever!! but they still say they can't do anything coz the account is closed. the charges amount to approx £3000! and i was stuck in the viscious charges circle which is proven on my statements.

if i got the money back i could pay my debt to them and others and boy would that be a weight off my shoulders!!

i hope this makes sense and i appreciate any advice :)
