I went throught he financial ombudsman as it was around £2,000 of charges and I have received a letter back 2 days ago saying that I am unsuccessful. Is it worth taking it further and appealing or should I just be defeated and annoyed.0

FOS are only looking at financial hardship claims at the moment.VICKILANGSTON wrote: »I went throught he financial ombudsman as it was around £2,000 of charges and I have received a letter back 2 days ago saying that I am unsuccessful. TO be blunt, under financial hardship the answer is no.0 -
Alliance & Leicester
£250 claimed
£0 repaid
Charged £250 for going £3 overdrawn. I went to the Ombudsman and complained as; 1) the charge was disproportionate 2) I was not informed 3) I ended up in a cycle of charges.
Just got the judgment which states the Ombudsman will not rule on the fairness of charges
And A & L state they sent out notification prior to debit - I did not received these but the FOS are taking the banks word
No refund
They have stated I can appeal with further evidence - has anyone had an FOS claim upheld in similar circumstances??0 -

The FOS will only look at Hardship claims or where there is bank error.http://www.lendingstandardsboard.org.uk/docs/lendingcode.pdf

Hi There
BANK Was Natwest.
Amount about £3,000
Offered £38.
Recieved none
About 2 years ago i applied to one of those claim companys obout the unfair charges. When the court case went agains us i then opptied out from the company thinking that was it i then read your artical about claiming and decided to follow the advice in the actical upon which i went online retraced all my charges on all my accounts with natwest but only asked for money back on one account on which they offered me £38.00. At this point i took it to the FOS and today i have recieved a 2 page letter back saying they are ruling in favour of Natwest. As i have been unemployed for the past 2 years through long term sickness and redundnacy i find this unfair and do not know what to do next. Any advice would be appiecated.0 -
