I called Halifax, trying with a total of 3 separate advisers who said they only offer 1 refund in the lifetime of your account and said since I was refunded £23 back in June, they won't refund any more of my charges. (Now totalling £110+ again this month)

You tend to get one get out of jail free card. It is designed to cater for the rare mistake. Not someone the regularly abuses their account terms.
I was told I can now only further contact the 'money management team' who already told me after a lengthy 1hr 30min conversation last month that there's not much they can do (they only offered to further increase my overdraft to cover THEIR fees!)

The banks have to consider financial hardship cases. They tend to look at your spending habits and the reason you are in debt. If its due to an unexpected event (say redundancy) then they will usually be sympathetic. If its due to you just living beyond your means (i.e. consumer spending) then you are not really in hardship but just cant control your money.
How did you get at contact email address for Halifax and what was it exactly please? I have been searching for weeks for an email address with no avail.

Best not to deal with banks via email. You need to speak to their complaints team. That is unless the contact has already been with their complaints team (the complaints team handle financial hardship cases).

Thanks, but I already know my situation and I know who I have to deal with (including their complaints team who I've already spoken to).
I simply asked for the email address to be provided which the other member apparently used. Somebody else obviously had success this way so I'd like to try too. If you can't provide that then you're just telling me facts I already know I'm afraid.

This topic is for bank charges, not packaged accounts but well done.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The problem is that you're barking up the wrong tree and need to accept advice even if it's not what you want to hear. You cannot claim back account charges, the banks won the court case back in 2009, all charges are legitimate and fair. Someone getting lucky from an email doesn't mean anything (classic correlation does not equal causation fallacy), it might have been a CEO email address (which will just be forwarded on by their PA back to the complaints team).

The only way you will get out of this cycle of problems is to ring them up and speak to someone in the hardship team and explain your issues and ask for help such as freezing new charges, stopping interest for a period etc to let you get yourself out of the hole. Complaining about account charges that have been legitimately applied will not get you anywhere.

I was wondering how long it would be before some forum Taliban came along & stamped their feet about "HEY THIS IS THE WRONG PLACE FOR THIS". Well done

A bank charge is a bank charge is a bank charge

This thread was created for reporting of "unfair" bank charges back in the day when you could do such things and pre-dates packaged account complaints.

There is a world of difference between overdraft and bounced item charges and packaged account charges. It is understandable that you mixed up the thread given the lack of context in the title. Had you read the first post on the thread you would have realised you were wrong though. However, your response was uncalled for

We have seen people see responses on this thread and think that they can still reclaim "unfair" charges when they cant. So, occasional reminders for misposts are fair and valid.

A bank charge is a bank charge is a bank charge

A bank charge is for a failing of the customer such as a bounced payment or going over a limit

The packaged accounts bill you a monthly fee for their service.

2 different things and important to clarify to prevent confusion from people believing they can still claim back account charges

Of course applying monthly packaged account fees may result in bank charges and a resultant increase in interest on the overdraft.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

Indeed but again the bank charges were ruled legal by the court case in 2009 so it's a moot issue as you couldn't claim them back
