Ok, so day 7/20 for me. Cereal bar, cuppa soup and a couple of slices of bread. Also have a banana and a yoghurt incase I feel the need!
(must admit to quite fancying VALM's minestrone soup though!)
Hi, have made my soup which was easy. It's a Gino D'Campo recipe and was tasty although a little salty (mainly because I used lazy basil and put too much in). Here's rest of ingredients though:-
80g Pearl Barley (I'm on WW so for me this was the only ingredient to be pointed hence why I remember the amount - 3 points if anyone is interested), celery, carrot, onion, spinach (though recipe called for green cabbage). Cook pearl barley for 25mins. Meanwhile in another pan put all veggies except courgette together with 1 litre of veg stock. Bring to the boil, add courgette and simmer for 15 mins. Make pesto using basil, garlic and 8 tbsps of the hot stock in soup. Mix back into the soup with the pearl barley. Yummy! xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Day 7 for me!!
Nearly out of fruit and other lunch-y items at home, might have to restock. Still WAY cheaper than buying lunch every day though!
Good work everyone :-)0 -
Hi everyone
Did I kill the thread?
Brought a packed lunch today but out of fruit at home so I had to stock up. Not sure if this expenditure is classed as a lunch purchase, but just in case...
I am still at 7/20!0 -
Today I will be finishing off the soup. Tomorrow I am planning on making some pasta with a ton of veggies and some tinned tomatoes left over from the soup. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Low fat tuna mayo and lettuce sandwich for me today with a couple of apples.
Also have some instant soup if I get hungry later on.

Hi guys, hope you're all doing really well. Not bought a single lunch at work yet....despite bosses going to the chippy on friday! Just discovered a blast from the past for home-made lunches at work, cos i'm getting stuck for hot meal ideas (sick of beans on toast & soup). SMASH!!!! Does anyone remember that from the 80's. I found some in the back of the cupboard the other day a fancy cheese & onion variety and it was luuurvely. Really nice comfort food for when its freezing going back & forwards to work on the bus in the cold! Asda (and other supermarkets no doubt) do their own value range...just add some dried chives and onion salt (about 60p a jar) possibly a couple of own brand cheese triangles....and voila!!
oooh and also muller-rices in the microwave (take ALL of the silver lid off - nearly blew up the microwave with that one) or micro-porridge is a nice warm dessert (make your own rice pud and tupperware it up...add a spoon of jam/apple sauce...its the same thing).
Happy saving guys x x0 -
Hi everyone - I'm still on FIRE with this challenge and have brought in lunch every day so far. Just as well cos it's half term next week so even though I'm still at work I've managed to book in three lunch dates with people who are on hols. If I stick to three I'm still on target for the month...May NSDs 10/11 (Feb 8/10, Mar 11/10, April 11/11)May save on lunches challenge 12/18 (Feb 16/16, Mar 20/20, April 18/18)0

Took some pasta into work today, made it (well the misses did) with chicken style quorn that's on offer at tesco's for 99p had it for dinner last night as well as lunch for myself and the kids.
It's great to hear what others are doing, as I'll be working on Saturday I'll be making and taking an omlette with me, it's something I wouldn't have thought of myself, thanks for the ideas everyone.Nearly debt free
