Is someone not allowed to change their views and learn?

That is life, you more forward, you learn new things, you improve.

Well that is my life, the ongoing quest for knowledge and enlightenment!

Except prior to that, in Feb 2007 and when prices were rising, you posted that the indices were nonsense.

Then had a bit of a damascene conversion when they all showed falling prices for 18 months or so.

And now are back to your old tricks of claiming they are nonsense, when prices are rising again.

That isn't learning...... it isn't changing views....... it's just a bit sad.....

My point is that the data is crap as they refuse to offer the raw data for scrutiny.

Hence there is no check on the data.

So if I gave you 50,000 numbers which would form the raw data, what would you do with it?

having bought a house in the middle of all the madness six years ago, then again in late 2006 then more recently towards the end of 2009 I don't see much difference.

This is the first I've heard about you actually proceeding with buying a new house Cleaver. Towards end of 2009. I bet you haven't even moved into it yet, else I'd imagine you would have less time to spend on here.

Hope you are happy with your chosen area, decision, price you paid ect.

Argh why am I getting involved?? Does anyone not believe this "lies" comment is a pathetic flippant comment born from a little tantrum that the numbers have turned positive, and the resultant posts are just an exercise in being as obtuse as possible in a (n failed) attempt to avoid looking like a cretin?

Then why are we still having tthis discussion?

The answer is to the thread is.....

I would like to know how the data works, you dont.

    Thread over?

I think we might have the answer.

Well, yeah, you're probably right on that one.

I was more interested in why you thought they were liars and why I somehow can't handle the truth.

    We go round in circles.

I've just re-read the thread and this is what I've found.

My understanding of a lie is something which is untrue. Other beleive that for someone to have lied, it requires some kind of conspiricy.

Please can we put this to bed now? Cleaver?

    Next misunderstanding...

I never called anyone a lair! You cant do that, unless you can 100% prove they are wrong.

That doesnt stop someone from lying, ie the information is not true. (but as per post above we disagree on the definition)

My point about you not handling the truth was I beleived that you were or appears to be arguing for the validity of the figures without questioning them.

This has been a good thread as I've learnt that I am the sort of person who questions numbers and wants to know how things work.

While others dont. Maybe that is why I work with computers/numbers/maths and others paint etc?

    Different minds, different views.

We're in Mr Dopester! Got the house just before Christmas, which was good as we avoided stamp duty. And I would like to post less on here, yet I seem to have a strange compulsion to do so. The house is in pretty good, neutral condition so there's actually not that much to do for it. I want to convert the spare room in to an office and we'll want to get the bathroom done in a year or so, but other than that it's just decorating and repainting to out tastes. Garden needs a bit of work too, but I'l waiting for warmer weather. I'll send you a PM all about the place later on as you were kind enough to offer your thoughts and opinions on areas (we're from the same area for anyone else reading).

Safe to say we absolutely love it here and feel we've made a good decision. Area is great and our neighbours are lovely, which I think is always nice when you move in to a new place. You can come over for a coffee if you fancy, but no talk of deflationary vortexes as you know I'll just get confused. ;)

There is no science or validity in the GDP numbers or any of the goverment stats, the Halifax / Nationwide / LR HPI stats. etc etc. To me they will always be lies.
