As Harry says though, why do you care that much? The figures give a general impression of whether stuff is going down, going up or staying the same. If one month was 0.3% up when in actual fact a more in-depth methodology would have found 0.4% does it really matter? LR, Nationwide, Halifax - they all pretty much say the same thing, so it looks like there are all just about getting the jist of things pretty accurate.0

So you are happy to be lied to? Maybe that is the whole point of this? Some people want the data, other people want to be kept happy, even if it involed lies.
You're right actually abaxas. I can't handle the truth. I thought I could, but I just can't. I'm just one man. And a simple man at that. I thought I was brave enough to look in to the dark, murky world of a building society's monthly property figures and, well, it turns out I was wrong. Please don't ruin my life. I just want to live a happy existance and if I found out that the statistics department of a Swindon-based building society had a flawed methodology in collating property price information I don't think I could carry on. My whole view of the world would be pushed completely off balance and I don't know if I could trust anything or anyone again. Even my own family.0 -

I simply dont have the time.
Post search tool. Easy enough to use. Takes less time than your posts in this thread so far.
Surely there must be a single post of yours where you questioned the data and methodology of at least one of the indices in the year or more that they all showed prices were falling off a cliff?
I mean, it's clearly such a big obsession with you that they are lying as you post about it endlessly. You don't believe a word they say when they all show prices rising. So you must also have not believed them when they were falling.
So link us to one of your posts where you laid out clearly that falling prices weren't happening, because the indices were lying.
Edit: The post search tool should check them all, not just the recent ones.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

How about this:

Then if you dont care, why post so many arguements attempting to backup your own belief in the figures?
You do care.... just to cant handle the fact you might actually be wrong.
I'm happy to be proven wrong here, give me the figures and I'll stand down.0 -

I'm in the truth camp... I'll assume you prefer not to know the truth.
Actually, just be serious for a second this is the attitute of the conspiracy theory nut that most p*sses me off. The notion that just because I have the opinion that an organisation are doing what they say they are doing I am somehow an idiot who can't make my own decisions.
I'm the 'the Nationwide do a survey each month which looks at house price data via a consistant methodology then releases it to the public' camp.0 -
