I think we need more pictures of small penises, more graphs, more wageslave, a return of Mr Brodders, another debate on the collapse of society and free beer. Preferably all in one thread.0

BTW Iverson is like our Asheron, they must be everywhere (like the Invaders)'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Can you show where we someone can get British Bananas?
Many people wake up to a cup of coffee.
Do they grow coffee beans in Britain?
etc
etc
etc
Thats where we differ in attitude to the Americans, French , Germans for example.
If you approach a problem with a negative attitude you'll get a negative outcome.
Will your son be happy stacking supermarket shelves with bananas and coffee to earn a living?
Or would he prefer a well paid job of some description ( ie professionally qualified) working in a chocolate factory.0 -
Blimey. I'm amazed by how keen you all are to defend the Nationwide methodology, as though it were some Holy Grail. All companies paint the best picture, same as politicians. In fact we all do, witness the bull, and the bear stances - "I'm glad I bought", "I'm glad I didn't".
Sorry guys, but even the Nationwide may "talk it up". Don't take it too hard. Have a break in the MoneySavers. Get a picture of Fionnuala for your screensaver.0 -

Anyone who knows me will say that I have an optomistic (sometimes overly) attitude.
I do consider negitive aspects, but only so that I understand them and can circumnavigate / erradicate if possible.Thrugelmir wrote: »

My son may end up stacking shelves to earn a living, I certainly know many students who have supplimented their finances with well paid supermarket jobsThrugelmir wrote: »Or would he prefer a well paid job of some description ( ie professionally qualified) working in a chocolate factory.
Well at 11 months old, he is a little young to be letting me know what career choice he would prefer.
He is very determined and knows what he wants so I'm confident he will succeed in whatever he chooses.
P.s. I'm am reletivly well paid and professionally qualified yet I know people with less qualifications who earn more. I'm referring to service technicians who receive a bonus every day they are away from home or offshore.
Many managers earn less than their staff who get douvle time etc.
Earning potential is not directly related to the level of qualifications attained although it does help.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

That's just the sort of 'can't do' attitude that has ruined this once great country of ours!!!
If your son isn't capable of making this sort of decision then you should do it for him."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

Pushing my son into work at such a young age is just wrong.
I'm not an advocator of child slavery, although I see young children working all the time throughout South East Asia
Like I said, at 11 months he doesn't know what a career is yet.
He does understand that dad goes out to work all day though.
Don't worry, he wont be getting the oppertunity to lay about when he's older that many of today's youth manage.:wall:
