Afternoon all,
Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine? It's 25-degrees here, I can't believe that about a week ago I was complaining about it still being chilly!
Anglea - I know what you mean about things that take quite a lot of effort to look after. Anything that needs to be set up is a no-go for me, I hate following instructions. Hence why I have a lot of exercise equipment, brand new and unused... I have an exercise machine in the centre of my room, it never gets used but takes up about 1/3rd of my floorspace. I really don't know what to do with it short of giving it away to charity.
Not sure what to do with myself today. I'll probably go with the Mothership into town to do the food shopping. The only thing I need today are some essential toiletries, so we'll see how it goes.0 -
Hi all
CL - have you found an alternative use for that excercise equipment? Clothes hanger? It would drive me mad to have it in the room (says she with a cluttered bedroom LOL)
I overdid excercising last night and couldn't move my arms well this morning. Only just had lunch - 3pm and will be walking to my parents later to drop something off I forgot yesterday, think I'll avoid the shops seeing as it will be gone 4pm before I get out the house and everything apart from the supermarket shuts at 5.
Look forward to your updates later.0 -
Hi all
I did end up at the shops after all because I realised that it was the perfect opportunity to finally go into the health shop and buy a few bits I always forget. I was on edge as I was having a bad hair day
.
It felt really eerie outdoors as no cars and everywhere practically deserted. Was it the hot weather? Looked at lots of nice clothes but avoided buying any because none of them were quite right in terms of style or colours.
On the way home I was stunned to see some women sunbathing in their swimming costumes on the grass verge. I know that I live in a very quiet area, but even so it was unusual.
What have you all been up to?0 -
Hi all,
Anglea - where you live really does sound like it's worlds apart from here! I have never seen our town so busy, I'm looking out of the window now and the beach is still packed with people, as is the fairground. Though the actual town centre was quieter than usual for a Saturday but still lots of old men walking around the supermarket topless looking like lobsters, with their 60-yr old wives in belly tops... there were some pretty odd sights to be seen today.
I managed to only get what I needed (apart from some chocolate buttons
), spent £4.15 so not too bad. My intention was to go to Boots and use some vouchers I had, but I couldn't be bothered as it was so hot. 0 -
Hi CL
What is it about British weather and those lobster effects in dressing? I saw a few sights this week that are staying in my mind and they are making me question my attitude to people.
Like a woman that from the distance appeared to be wearing a nice smart dress bare feet and sandals. When I got up close, the hemline was shorter than I expected and as she was overweight, the legs looked terrible because of cellulite. I was thinking to myself that if her dress was longer she would look lovely. Or if she didn't have the cellulite it wouldn't look too bad.
But is that me being nasty or just realistic?

Anglea, you're only being realistic. I mean, Gok Wan has shown that older and/or larger people can still look amazing...it's about dressing your age and covering up bits (and that does not mean frumpy, he's proven it).
Spent too much yesterday; treated someone to lunch: £36.25, and spent the rest of the day ill with acid reflux. Also spent £13 in M&S on food for the fridge and then had to go to Boots and buy an essential cleanser as I've totally run out, and some soluble painkillers, so that was almost £7. F*** me...must go into miser mode now to compensate as I plan a mini break sometime this summer and have more moving costs to meet...0 -
Well, I think the same as you Anglea and so does my mum. Some people just don't dress appropriately, I think that's the problem. You can look nice without bearing a lot of flesh or wearing badly cut clothes.
Not that I profess to be the best dressed person in the world - I'm not! But I know what suits me, and I won't wear anything that shows off an uncomfortable amount of flesh (uncomfortable to me or the general public).
FE: £36 is a lot for lunch.. if it's only a one-off though, I would try to justify it that way and then claw back some pennies next week?
I'm going out today (with a friend, her boyfriend & sister)... just for a walk, probably for a drink. I'm taking £20 with me but hopefully won't spend it all. But if I do, I'm not bothered as I hardly ever go out.0 -
Afternoon all

Isn't it beautiful weather today
Can't see I wrote about my trip to Leeds yesterday, So I shall do later
Today for me is just perfect, a little cooler and a little bit of breeze in the air
As a result of yesterday I have a grand total of £30 until Payday, which should be fine
Saw a beautiful suit yesterday I want to get for work
With a newlook offer voucher (20% off) it comes in at £40 total. But this is how my thought process has changed. A year ago, £40 would seem a bargain and I would buy it without a second thought and even though come next Saturday I am going to have enough money to more than buy it, I am thinking of what I could return to make it a little less on the pocket
Would have never done this before.
Scary to think of all the hours ive wasted on buying things I then decide I dont want/cant afford really!Learning to be 'good with money'0 -
Hi all
Clothes, not to make anyone paranoid about outfits, but I think you've got to realise nowadays that you could accidentally end up in someone's phone pics. I was looking through the Streetview of my area and recognised a few people - and was very relieved I didn't see myself.
On the subject of being filmed without your knowledge, did any of you read today's papers with the latest scandal from Fergie - ex Royal.. I would hate to be in her shoes today.
FE - I'm sorry that after spending all that money on lunch then felt ill afterwards.
NGlady - well done on your new attitude to spending. What colour/style is the suit?
CL - I hope you have a nice time today.
I am doing what I always do on a Sunday, spend the afternoon with ex and his family. His parents are very poorly and unwell so I make the tea and clear up. Then he comes back to mine to talk over family related things.
Hope you all have a good day and keep those purses closed..0 -
Angela, It is quite *unusual* (Might be the wrong word!) that despite being an "ex" you are still able to do things like go and help his parents, and then him come back to yours to talk and be friendly. I don't think I know anybody who is like that with their ex

It is a black suit, and at the back of the knee length skirt theres a frill and then on the jacket, theres a frill at the front
Found out ill have missed the 20% off newlook thing, so MIGHT wait until the next one pops up
*Goes and has a good sit down cos shes starting talking crazy, might be the sun lol
