I think its up to you what you do with it. I think you need to highlight a major spending weakness, such as shopping. Then figure out how much you can afford to put in that purse either on a weekly or monthly basis (guess on the basis u get paid) and then if you want say a new top, it HAS to come out of this purse, otherwise you can only buy it through several days of NSD's

Im having a NSD day today :) Forcing myself to stop in. As dirty as this soundss I find if I don't wash my hair the night before and have to do it during the day the day after it gives me a NSD as I don't get out the house! lol. So going to have a nice clear out and listen to some music :) I have my new joggy bottoms and top on and I feel gooood cos im not allowed many purchases now :)

I've read a spending dairy "cinnys spending dairy" and its making me think I want to start one, shall have to give it more thought :)

Hi girls, caught up with you all.

NGlady - what are we going to do with you? I wonder if you prefer the dramas in the shops (returning the clothes, wondering if anyone recognises you etc) more that the actual buying?

tyzer - when you were spending a lot of money on lottery/scratchcards each day - how much were you winning?

Yesterday - £3 bag, £0.60 cushion cover - charity shop, £9 lunch, £6 wine bar, £0.60 cake, £1.70 craft club subs, £0.80 art shop

Got home and realised I still haven't unpacked the bag I bought last week (£12), haven't tried on the skirts I bought the other week or the zip up top. Forgot all about them. Getting too much like you lot!

Thanks so much to this thread - really helping me start to make tracks into paying off my debt and is changing the way I think about shopping!

OH has my cash card today (he is paying in a cheque) so definitely no chance of any spending today!!

Going to root out a second purse and put money in each week for "treats" - my downfall is toiletries - NOONE needs as many bottles of bath / shower gel as I have!! :-/

Thinking of starting off on a £5 a week budget to go in treat purse ...........
    Weekly Spend Challenge: £13.83/£25
    Total Debt: was £6448 (2/8/10) now £6056 :)

Angela.. Quote: Getting too much like you lot! << Glad to have such a good influence on you :) lol. To be honest, you are giving me more and more things to think about each time, making me wonder "is that the reason" and I guess I do like the odd challange in the shops, a little argument lol.

Well im glad my two purse strategy helps :)

Im still trying to make myself do some tidying up - been "tidying up" for the last hour and a half and not done anything yet lol. I keep listening to Boyzones "gave it all away" song so hits home really.

I cant wait till my date on Sat ... Going all the way to Manchester on my own :O This is furthest ive ever traveled alone lol.

Ooh date in Manchester Nglady.. sounds exciting!

I have no self control whatsoever today. I bought some snacks at lunch time, all healthy stuff, so I would not need to go to the shops every day and I would eat more healthy food.. well I have demolished a whole packet of peanuts in an hour! No-one needs to eat that many peanuts all at once. At this rate I will eat all the healthy snacks today, they're supposed to last into next week at least

Supersmith im bad for that too, I can't stock pile things as I will know its in my desk/cupboard and just end up eating it. Example is, I used to buy some pick and mix to eat on a sat night when casulty was on, on the bus home I would know its in my bag and it would be like having a conversation with me asking me to eat them!! I do have to buy as I go along.

Peanuts? Thought they wasnt very healthy cos the oils etc?

Anglea - some days you win, some days you lose. Overall, you lose.

When you have a gambling addiction, you don;t gamble in the hopes of winning overall really - you gamble for the buzz you get whilst you're gambling. The down afterwards is awful.

Believe me, I don't need to be told that gamblers always lose - I KNOW that. Last year I lost about £25k overall.

ETA: sorry if that sounded a little over-defensive!!
No, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!:D

    Wombling totals: Oct = £243.32 - £93.32 over target!
Nov Wombling Tally: £27.36 so far... behind target :(

    Hi girls,

Tyzer - I hope you didn't misinterpret my post to you when I asked how much you were winning. I wasn't feeling judgemental, but was asking because someone I knew used to buy about £30-40 worth each weekend and was always winning a lot so wondered how you got on.

    NGlady and Supersmith - food.

The only time I tend to do something like that is whenever I decide I want some free time and relax at the computer and eat my lunch reading all the posts. However, it rarely works out that way as I cannot stop myself from eating most of it while Windows and everything else is loading - my computer takes ages and I only leave a few mouthfuls by the time I've logged into forums etc. I get so annoyed with myself as I eat without even realising I'm doing it.

Annie - so how many bottles of shower gel do you have I wonder? :) What are you going to spend your 'treat' money on?

    Hi all,

Anglea - it certainly does sound like you're becoming 'one of us'. Oh dear :o:D

Well I have some spends to confess. I ordered an MP3 player (8gb Sansa clip+). It was £40.24 BUT I'd saved up £35.03 of Amazon vouchers the past couple of week, so I only paid £5.21 cash for it  I also spent £2.80 on a takeaway :o I really didn't need that...

My brother is proper doing my head in today. He's one of those people who's always twisting and turning an argument so that he wins... even if he doesn't make sense!:mad::mad: So I'm blaming stress for my takeaway spends.
