New year, New me (finally)

ok, one pretty sleepless night later, I'm fighting back. Bags under eyes and all (some extensive application of makeup needed today methinks)
Have gone through all the repair bills from OHs dad for the car, and on average it seems it needs £1000 a year spending on it in repairs, so that's the pot we need to keep aside at all times (not very DFW). Logged all items and their cost on a spreadsheet, and now know that the cam belt needs replacing every 50,000 miles, so that is due NOW.
So I'm going to sell some items, and we are going to pre-empt that needing doing, and next payday it can go to the garage (more like a frikkin' health spa retreat for this thing), and have a new cam belt and the work done that was highlighted as needing to be done in the future, in the MOT. After this, it better be worth its 300,000 miles that everyone says they do- we're currently at 146,000.
Sorry for all the car talk, but I like to know the facts, I don't like nasty surprises, so we are going to damn well get a grip and set some money aside for this car, because without it we are stuck completely (no bus runs from our village, so it is a 10 mile walk to work if it breaks).
We are not giving up on our country life (even if it is rented at the mo), we will get through this, we will fight our way through this debt, and it will all have been character building stuff. We do not surrender that easily.
Oh, anyway, good morning all, and hope you have a fab day.
xx

Ok,
I'm back on the positive and recovered from car trauma. 87 items to ebay over the next few weeks which should bring me £2885 if I get what I want for things. Yay
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hi Buffy,
I know. Grrr!
Just had the first small lot of produce from the allotment-some radishes and spinach. Mmmmm. I know this sounds gross but you can taste the earth in them, what good wholesome food. 100% natural, fresh, no chemicals pesticides, not even miraclegrow. Yum.

Morning.
Jut dropping by quickly as need to photo and put on ebay all that stuff, before going to my bro's. I was thinking of starting another thread where anyone can post their homemade or homedone beauty tips or treats. I just learned how to thread my own eyebrows by looking at some videos on you tube. Why the hell was I paying £10 for this? It just takes a bit of cheap thread-cost about £1 a year!!! I wonder if there is somewhere I can learn to trim my own hair? Might just pop and watch youtube again, there's bound to be something.
If you don't hear from me for a while, that's because I made a hash of my hair, and have gone into hybernation.

Phew,
Just listed another 10 items on ebay. There's no way I could manage to list the 87. I remembered too that you have to have enough money in the bank to afford the postage before the money gets paid into your account (yeah thanks Paypal 3 days to get into your bank account, and buyers expect their item to be posted as soon as they have sent this).
As it is free listing today, I've put on my items at the price I want them to sell at, if they don't go then boo, but the debt busting will have to take a bit longer. I'm not going to sell my whole house for £100. If I sell them for less than I've listed them for, then they would be of more worth to me to keep them and get some good wear out of them. We'll see.
I have to say though, it is good for one thing. It makes you think twice before buying anything. When you can't even sell something that would cost someone £300 to buy, for £20, it not only makes you realise how tight people are, but also how much that item is worth to you. If you are going to get £5 for something that is unworn, and it would cost you £30 to replace it, then clearly it's not worth it.
Anyway I'll spare you my ebay rants. Good job I checked the 100 items for 99p new rules, apparently it's not just any old 100 items, they all have to be from the same catagory. So if you had 99 items of clothing and 1 jewellery, you would get the clothing free, but would be charged for the jewellery because it is a different catagory.

Is Cloverfield the most irritating film I've ever seen? Yes, yes it is.

Tonight I'm tired, but really hopeful. The limit for receiving money has been lifted off my Paypal account, so I can ebay away. I'll keep just a few precious items, but the rest can go, to shrink this debt. I'm hoping to have a new job by the end of the year, to get me out of the carp one that I have at the minute, and to bring some more money in.
Oh has an interview on monday, I really hope he gets it, as it will lift his spirits and we will feel like we are getting somewhere. I can't wait til I'm debt free and can start enjoying life again. I've come a long way already, I budget and hopefully next month, will be able to say that I have not got an overdraft, as well as not using a credit card since february.
I don't know about you guys, but I feel like I'm getting in touch with the old me again, I tried to make myself happy by buying lots of things, but I know now that that was not my true authentic self. I look back now and it's no wonder I was in debt, the amount of money I would fritter away. So I may not look super groomed, but I'm happy for the first time in a long time, and that has to be worth it.
I also found out that I passed my ILM this week, wahoo!

Oh , and ps.
Doesn't having to scrimp to get by make you reevaluate what you thought were essential and important purchases before? V cool.
