Gosh darn it slugs. Not only do they come in the top of the door and slime the kitchen ceiling. I was washing up and one was in the water. I thought it was a gherkin, and then there was slime, and then I had to step away from the sink, pour myself a glass of wine, and be traumatised for a bit.

Bloomin wildlife. Why can't it stay outside?

6 more days to payday. Just trying to egg myself on here. Why do the last 2 weeks always go so slowly?

I know it's really bad but I'm just wishing this year away so that I can get to Christmas, enjoy that, and then start the new year afresh with a smaller debt and knowing that next year is the year of real change. I'm not even bothered about summer this year, just reading books and trying not to spend money.

I'm really chuffed tonight as it was me putting the halt on not spending money for once. OH and I have agreed that we should on a sunday make an extra special effort and have a nice long breakfast together, sitting properly at the table with tea in a pot and everything. Only thing I was missing was a toast rack. OH suggested we could get one, and I said maybe later on when the debts are clear. See? I am changing for the better.

I have seen new trainers in the sale, but will not purchase until the others completely fall apart on me, they are pretty much there already, but they may go on another year like that, so I'm not spending my money.

    :)

    Morning,

On the slug front-the little critters. I put salt around the kitchen door last night-in a Supernatural stylee, and guess what? One has visited via the front door, there was a little slime patch on the bottom step of the stairs-yuk. Might have a word with the landlord and see if we can get anything put round the door. Stupid slimy slugs.

My plans for the week ahead. Give ebay a break for a while. It has been taking over my weekends-i need my life back for a bit.

To leave my card at home after posting tomorrows last ebay items.

To not drink any alcohol all week.

For the rest of the year, not to buy anything I don't need. To wear my clothes until they have holes in them before replacing them. To apply for jobs. To be better at studying and not leaving things till the last minute. Not to feel guilty when telling people I can't afford the 'only £5' it will cost for drinks out. OH and I have plans for our future which are our own and no one else's. We know what we need to get there, and number one is to straighten out our finances. I'm getting stronger. I've also not offered discount on postage for someone who bought two items-one was 99p, I will be sending them as two seperate packages so they will cost me the full amount of postage listed. I'm not a shop, do not buy in bulk so therefore don't have discounts to pass on. I know that sounds mean but this is money that needs to be in my pocket and not someone else's, so for once I'm not going to be bullied into something I'm not comfortable with.

I'm so proud of myself. I've taken the brave step of walking into the bank today and instructing them to reduce my overdraft by £100 next monday. I'm going to do the same each month until it is gone.£200 to go. Baby steps, but it left me on such a high and feeling in control-me reducing it rather than them asking me to.

    Wahoo

  • Hi Thrifty. You're doing really well, that's a brave step with the OD. And poor you with the slugs - I would freak, I absolutely hate them......let alone if they were sliming my ceiling!! And slithering in my washing up!! Sorry your ebay has not done brilliantly..... I really should do some, I have a few things that might do well, and would like to raise a surplus £300......but I find it such a drag to do. And a timewaster, with the incessant checking for bids etc...but I may yet steel myself, I really should.

    Keep doing what you're doing

Oh yeah I'm crumbling totals today.Payday is tomorrow but I won't have time to update so doing it a day early. This is my first milestone :j:j:jsingle figure total:j:j:j

Next milestone is 25th August, when I will definitely definitely be debt free, or loan free at least in 1 year. 4 years paying it, and one more to go then.

October/november will be my 50% paid off point. Wahoo!:D

    Evening all,

Hot one isn't it? Have been run ragged at work today, so now some r&r time with a cool glass of wine. Well Thrifty did good today. Went into Rackhams and got a pair of nine west boots for a fiver! I bought them because i figured that it was £5 less than it would cost me to get the old ones re-heeled. Also had a chance finding and saw my new year ball come 30th birthday dress-a new Day Birger Et Mikkelson concession had appeared (i love their stuff) and spied this baby for £50http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/93611. The Christmas do is a black tie event, and there are loads of pictures of me wearing the same dress that I wore last year (and which I've had for 4 years), so I figured that I couldn't wear the same one again. Plus as I'm not going to Paris, I did promise myself that I would have a moderately glamorous home do, and would probably have had to spend 3x that amount. So I might as well buy it earlier than planned because it is much cheaper. I plan to sell some things on ebay too to fund it.

Also may purchase one of their lovely shirts £30. It's one of those crisp white ones, with like a lacey panel at the front, and is longer at the back than the front (very 90's). Cool.http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/62545

As an alternative choice to the above one, imagine this but it is the dress version so the same but a bit longer.http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/62525

I guess this kind of goes against my new thread 'make it last, make it at home' (let me know what you think of it, only one post so far :(. But before I manage to get myself on a clothes making course, these are pretty cool.
