This is the 5th time I have typed this and it has disappeared!!! Just popped by to see how the haircut went. I had mine cut a lot shorted than I was going to, so I am going to have to straighten it daily. Still it looks pretty! :-D

Will hopefully catch up with you soon :)

When did it get to be this time at night! What happened to Sunday! Spent the day cleaning and watching the rugby.

Was watching Gordon Brown on Piers Morgan. I was nearly crying when he was talking about their wee girl

Determined to go to bed NOW! So will update on weekend spending tomorrow :o (See if I'm brave enought to admit that haircut!)

Hmmm, so I've hauled the ironing board out of the back of the cupboard of doom... but I seem to have lost my iron.... Generally I'd see that as no bad thing :D But I could kinda use it at the moment... off to tear the house apart in the great iron hunt 2010...

Crisis averted... iron in the other side of the wardrobe. D'oh! I don't need to wander around looking like a wrinkly Nic (though I normally do so I'm not sure what's gotten into me this Monday :p)

How bizarre is this - I'm updating my spending diary from last Thursday, but can't seem to remember past Satuarday, so I'm checking my diary to see if I told you all what I had ot had not spent. :j Yay for DFW diary, warts and all!

OK, so Thursday's covered, Friday was a NSD :j. And, erm yeah, ahem, Saturday.... deep breath, hairdressers £52.10  With the half price die and 10% off for recommending my friend! But I am loving my hair (still putting off washing it as then I'll have to do it myself! Not sure it'll survive past the gym this afternoon though!)

After the hairdressers, I went to meet my friend to go ice-skating with the kids... too late for me to join in so saaved myself £3.20m but spent £1 in car park. Then was in the middle of a shopping centre  My friend sneakily led my into temptation on numerous ocassions, especially nipping into Oxfam. What is she trying to do to me - charity shops are my favourite weakness! :p But I was string and all was well until we hit Boots! Though I did redeem 1404 points to pay for most of it! :j I still spent £6.46 on top of that. However, I did get 3 for 2 on toothpaste, which is very clever of me. And apart from Soap & Go's "Bright Here" moisturiser, it was all necessary stuff (got ear plugs too to drown out neighbours telly and flat-mate's hula hoop eating - godsend!:rotfl:) But I'm justifying soap and Go as I'd normally buy No 7 Protect thingy and it's more expensive for less.

So that was Saturday. Sunday was so close to being a NSD... but then I started cleaning the flat with my vinegar and bicarb of soda concoctions (vinegar and water, btw, is fab for PVC windows and doors) and ran out. So scoured the OS forum for details on buying in bulk and found this site http://www.summernaturals.co.uk/ And managed to spend £51.97 :eek::eek: Feeling guilty but my thinking was that 5l of white vinegar, 5kg of bicarb of soda, 2 kg of citric acid and 1kg of soap pods (and a few other bits and bobs) would save me an absolute fortune in the long run. I doubt I'll need to buy much in the way of cleaning products for the rest of the year. Though I am a bit upset that I don't get to ammend my sig and bring down that credit card a bit more!

There is still scope but I'm still a bit concerned that timings with my bank transfers don't work out so am waiting until I know that's ok before paying out anything else.

I had to phone o2 as the said I was no longer eligible for my broadband discount since I updated my sim. Harrumph! Easily sorted though, just hit the "Yes I am thinking of leaving o2" option when I called. Doscount still stands :D

And I still haven't had confirmation from N Rock re my over payments. 5 working days my *ss! Grrrr! So I'm not sure whether they are still splitting my overpayments as they normally do!:mad::mad: Whay can't they just do what they say they are going to? SUrely it's not that difficult!? ANyway, I think I should maybe put it in writing to them.

Right need to head off... time to finish off that gym programme I made a mess of the last time :o:rotfl: After which I'm meeting a few friend's I haven't seen for ages, yay :j:j There will probably be a few  but I have been very good since hogmanay so I'n not too worried and quite excited. Out on a Monday evening - how naughty :D

    Catch you later :)

I had such a lovely time with my friends, I love getting the chance to catch up with friends you've not seen for an absolute age but you just slot back into it as though you'd only seen them a few days ago. :D Feeling fab - and now cosily tucked up under the duvet as it's very cold out! Spent the pricely sum of £25 tonight, including dinner so that's not too bad - though is over my monthly budget for entertainment! We all agreed we need to find a cheaper pub next time though; £3.11 for a bottle of Corona! Boo. £4 for a pint of peroni. What?

And I told them I have a diary here. Slightly worried they'll find me and I'll then have to temper my anonymous rantings and ravings! But I guess they know me well enough, they've already seen me at my worst... but the reason I like to come here is because you all know and understand what I'm ranting and raving about - I just feel many of my friend's don't quite get why I won't/don't want to/can't spend money on this or that and I hear "but it's just a fiver/tenner/twenty quid..." or "but you need to get out and have a life". So I don't bore them with the details, I just try to get on with it. Maybe it's no bad thing if they do find me :) Though the one's that decide to look for me are hugely likely to be the ones who understand the most! :D

Seem to have gone off on another tangent! Forgot I soent £30 on diesle at weekend too - pulled the receipt out of my pocket when I was waiting on the underground. Isn't it scary that I don't even remember filling the tank. Hmmm.

    Night all :)

  • hello! I'm new round these parts, well I've been lurking for a couple of weeks but plucked up the courage to post.

I've signed up to your diary, simply because we've similar sized debts (although I owe about an extra £3K on your total debt :o) and I think we sound fairly similar in our habits, so will be following to see how your'e getting on!

Hey Maneki, well done on your first post! Woo hoo! And I'm very flattered you chose my diary! It's good to know people are actually reading my ramblings and still awake enough to post me a wee bit of encouragement :D

My debt was a lot more before I had my light bulb moment (I reckon probably about £40k at it's worst but I'm not brave enough to work it out). I probably paid off £5-7k last year (without actually forcing myself to look at the situation and see where I could afford to pay more or cut back on things), and years previous to that, just the bare minimum.

I never really tried to temper my spending. Last year was a tough year as I had many 30ths, a 40th, a 50th and 3 weddings of close friends (one of which I was a bridesmaid at). So I got a second job and basically spent those wages on "special occasions" without a great deal of thought and ceratainly no budgeting!! This year I'm determined to pay off a lot more than £7k and be more sensible when budgeting for those special occasions!

This year's life lesson to be learned: Practise budgeting until it becomes second nature! Not quite there yet... not even that close, but becoming more addicted to sorting out numbers and filing things in order so I'll get there!

Let's see if we can do this thing together :j:T

I've called payroll this morning to check whether they received confirmation from A&L to pay my wages to that bank account. They haven't! Yikes. But cut of is Thursday so I've to call back on Friday and I'll know which account my pay is heading for.

Either way I think there will be a bit of mad transferring of monies between the two accounts. Only MBNA and BT have confirmed the change of direct debits and both of them come out towards theend of the month so I'm not concerend about them - the money is in the old account to cover them. I am very concerned about the mortgage, RBS loan and all the bills that come out of my account on the 1st and 2nd of the month. This is the reason people don't want to switch bank accounts!

And I still haven't had confiramtion from bl**dy N Rock about these overpayments. No wonder they went belly-up. They can't even get the basics! Grrrr  But I bet you I'll hear from them pretty darn quick if those direct debits don't transfer and the mortgage is late this month!!!!!
