Hmmm, maybe I should have started my diary in word and been copying and pasting as I go along... word’s better at picking up my typos than MSE reply box is ;) And I would just have been able to print it all off in the end and pack it off to the publishing companies :D
Have had a very unproductive day today:
    · Haven’t written my letter claiming tax back on my professional registrations. I can’t figure out where to call, what I’ve paid over the last five years, or what they need to know...

    · Haven’t done anything about reducing my life assurance. I find the whole thing soooo confusing and trying to research it hasn’t cleared things up! As I’m single, I apparently don’t need life assurance and some would argue I don’t need critical illness cover as it only covers some illnesses. But from what I can tell, mortgage payment protection only pays out for a year (at most) and (assuming it was because I was sick) I work for the NHS so would get statutory sick pay, so don’t know if that’s appropriate for me...

Martin’s article confused me more. And a financial advisor on the insurance boards said he reckons my premium was cheap for some-one of my age... so my head’s spinning and I give up (for the minute anyway!).

    · Haven’t updated my budget. I’m telling myself this is because I need my new A&L account to finish transferring the direct debits so it’s easier to see what needs to go where... but really, I know what direct debits are moving, so I can work out where things should go AND that would make it easier to track everything online! So I suspect that’s my great knack for procrastination kicking in there!

    · I’m finding it very hard to keep up to speed with my spending diary. I think it’s because I might be scared of what it tells me! Or perhaps because I’m scared I don’t want to change what it tells me! Both of which I know don’t make sense. I need to know where my surplus is going – and that is the most sensible way of doing it! If I don’t want to give some things up because I feel they’re important for my sanity (and I’m sure we can all relate to that!), then I need to learn to include them in my budget and make sure I’m being realistic!
Ok, enough ranting and doom and gloom! On the plus side, I saved £4 today as I only needed to pay for 1 prescription instead of 2 because they were for the same medicine. :) I didn’t know that! Quite glad I never got around to getting the older one sooner! And that was all I spent today, yay! :T
And I have been scouring hair websites for a new hair cut (booked in for Saturday morning). I’ve got a classic bob – have had for years. And very fine hair. But I’m bored. So thinking I may vary the bob slightly and go for a choppier, shorter bob with a fringe. Been wanting a fringe for a while (first time I asked my hairdresser about it, we decided against it as I was bridesmaid the next again weekend and didn’t want to give the bride a heart attack if it went horribly wrong!) But I’m trying to remember how bad my cow’s lick is/was! (My poor wee nephew has inherited it- but it looks cute on a 3 year old!) Any suggestions welcome! And roll on Saturday morning and a bit of pampering! :j

"Petition Delivered; G7 Leaders Call to Cancel Haiti’s Debt!

Though the $1 billion in debt is still not yet technically cancelled, the G7 countries (the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Japan) hold considerable influence over the international lending institutions that must ultimately and officially cancel Haiti’s debt. We at ONE now feel confident that the full cancellation of Haiti’s debt is closer to being a done deal than ever before — and we hope the details will be hammered out quickly."

Yay! Ok, so it's not technically complete yet, but it's so much more positive than it was! Here's hoping :j:j:j

OOOH! This is something else I was looking at today! It is quite long at the moment, but I want a choppy bob I think, I know exactly what I want but I can't get it across properly to my hairdresser (my brother! Free haircuts! woohoo)

Let us know what you go for :)

Spending diaries are evil things as are SOAs. Looking back to when I first started my diary my SOA makes me laugh. All the things that I thought were esential and gave up begrudgingly I haven't missed in the slightest. You'll find you're spending money on the wierdest things without realising it.

Of course this then becomes somewhat of an obsession and you find yourself noting down everything you spend in a big book and then you sign up to the live on 4K a year challenge at which point even your nearest and dearest think you've lost the plot. But you know that going without that Starbucks Moccha Latte knocks 3 hours off your mortgage term.

 Hi Lemon Tree! Hope work wasn't too tedious! Please come help keep me sane :D And well done on how much you've cleared already! Yay :j:T

Moo2Moo :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Thank you! You made me laugh! The day I become that obsessive is the day I know I don't need to worry about my budgeting skills any more! Teach me everything you know! :D

Welsh angel - I'm thinking something like one of these two... Given I'm not a morning person and won't want to faff about with my hair in the morning, I'll probably go for the first one :) Wow, free hair cuts! From your borther! That would be amazing! My brother's a landscape gardener mind you, so I dread to think what he might do! (And I'd maybe need to check he bore me no childhood grudges first! :rotfl:)

So I've been to the gym for the second time since I joined! Woo hoo! Booked into yoga tomorrow and sorting out a gym programme with staff on Thursday so it should be a good week! And feeling even more virtuos as I managed not to go into the two charity shops I pass on the way to the gym and I nipped into Asda to buy bread - and only bought bread! Wow, that's got to be a first! (might have has something to do with the fact I only had £1 on me for my gym locker though ;))

So that's just .86 for the spending diary then... I'll brush the dust off the top of that note-book...

My flatmate eats cheese and onion hula hoops so slowly and noisily, it drives me insane!

How many ways can one "lose" the hula hoops? :)

    Thank you savingholmes

Got to say I'm feeling very positive today! The sun has been shining in Glasgow and some blue sky always helps :D

I've got a few weeks before I need to go back to work, so I'm trying to sort the health side out by being more active. Work will take care of itself once I get back to it - I think my boss is now way more stressed than me about my workload. Which can only be a good thing - for me anyway! :)

Generally I'm a very positive, bubbly person, so it's good to start feeling more like myself again! And coming here on being able to rant freely and let people know what I want to achieve - not just with regards to my debt - is such a boost. It really helps with the motivation and keeps me focused!

    Cheers guys!
