Thank you! To be perfectly honest, I think staying where I am and working to where I want to be is the most sensible option. I'm nowhere near where I need to be financially (or emotionally when it comes to my finances) to take the risk right now. But if I can pay off 20k in two years then, as long as I don't become complacent, I will get to where I want to be. And doubtless I'll change the route and even the location as I learn new things along the way.
Had email back to say lady would love to have me along and will recommend me if she is asked to do work in this area that she can't manage. She will also recommend me to the training company, though she warned it doesn't earn a lot and she thinks their dates are set for this year.
So it's all good but it does hit home that I'm not far enough into this journey to take the stabilisers off yet.
MrsMoo, I feel as if I do know you in rl :-) . And though I might miss you where you currently are, I do hope that I'll meet you in the next adventure!
And thank you all for letting me rant and helping me think through things. The objectivity is necessary!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

ah, thanks and we will meet at some point I am sure of that (will have to make it happen.) I am currently organising meeting a bunch of women I have never met in RL so who knows.
It helps to talk to people who are removed from your everyday life to bring objectivity. Deciding to stay where you are is a good thing if you have made that decision with the sole reason that you know it is in order to take you to where you want to be.
Feeling the Fear can relate to being fearful of staying put as it can to moving elsewhere. The trick in all of this is coming to a very reasoned decision that helps you to move forward. Just having the interview has been a catalyst in making things clearer for you. Keep on down that road and then when it splits again take stock and decide which road to take. Well, I emailed them. I tried to call but couldn't get through (phew
), but Iexpect I'l talk to them at some point through the week.
I could quite easily blame it on the number crunching as the numbers really weren't going to work however much I hoped they would. Felt really cringy; "it is with a heavy heart" kinda stuff, it would have been a good opportunity but for the timing money-wise etc etc...
Haven't told my boss yet. I feel I can let them stew a little longer!

She has. She has also replaced the 'unhygienic' washing up bowl she threw out yesterday. Started talking about how we needed a drainer this morning and I said 'We don't need a drainer as at present I can't even wash up!'
Yes, deep breathing and a plan should work for you. It's all moving in the right direction for you, just wait for karma to join the dots.
I have a second interview on Thursday for an estate agent, didn't even realise the 'open day' on Saturday was going to be an interview. Rubbish money compared to my past - £12k plus commission but would improve my knowledge of the housing market, my customer care and negotiating skills and it's more than £67.50 a week.
Plan B is run away from the lodger. Applied for a 3 month job in Worcester and waiting to hear on the possibility of an interview for a 6 month one in Gloucester.

Did Glasgow ever bother their a** getting back to you? Here's hoping your lodger calms down or you manage to find a job that suits you out of her wayJan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Well, I have now officially said no and every-one who needs to know, now knows (except perhaps the lodger. Ahem.). Boss said she understood I'd be disappointed but she was delighted. I pointed out that was the second time she'd said that to me this year. Supervisor thinks I should have taken out a loan because I would then have been on the botttom of the next pay scale and my pay would have gone up 10k in no time! (Which isn't true unless she is getting mega pay rises no-one else in the NHS knows about!). Supervisor is thinking about going full time temporarily.:eek::eek::eek::eek:
I start my pilates class on Monday, found a yoga fusion (meditation and breath work) class I can go to. Also considering a course on breaking into writing for a living (it focuses on professional writing and writing for industry etc, so would be a way of finding out about if/how I get myself published in the areas I know about), an interior design course ('cos that's what I'd do if I wasn't doing what I'm doing) and a book keeping course. These are not all happening at the same time! But are on over the course of the next 6 months... so hopefully ways of moving forward both in terms of learning for the future but also in terms of taking my mind off the things I can't change in the present.
Rounded down bank accounts, think I might have just missed the mortgage call centre tonight... if I don't do it before, I'll put £911 towards the NRAM debt on Saturday. I'm hoping this will pay it off, but it might not. I only get yearly statements now (which is a pain. I found quarterly statements hard enough!) so I've forgotten when I last paid money off and how many D/Ds I've made since then. I think it might only have been January though.
Lodger has a holding deposit on a flat, pending credit check. He's hoping to sign the lease in the next couple of weeks. :T
Oh and mum is clearly feeling sorry for me, because she suggested a yoga weekend, her treat. Cool.Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

There are lots of positive things there Nic. It is great to see you putting things in place to start living the dream life too. I read a blog called Cold Antler Farm. I dont want to live on a farm but I love her ethos of living the dream life today and not waiting. Even if you cant live the full dream you can start doing bits to make it all happen. This is the link that got me hooked on it.

Oh my MrsMoo! I was holding my breath silently screaming no, don't jump, you're too wee! But I understand not waiting for someday!
I think listening to my sypervisor earnestly telling me that stress and firefighting was just the way it was work-wise and I just had to accept that was the way it was always going to be was enough to jolt me. I refuse to accept that is the way things stay! She really belived it too, which is a bit depressing. It means she's just accepted the next 25 years of her llife are going to be as they are now.
Although I have already upset her applecart. Lalalalalalalalalalala. And things wil have to change even if I'm not out of there as fast as I would have liked! I never was a speedy gonzales. For a start I have an eccentric leg.
Anyhoo, I phoned NRAM to transfer money today, and I was all smug and everything because I transferred £30 from each of my other two accounts to the "holding" account (well, it's hardly a savings account!), so off I went to pay off £971.62. And they are closed for upgrade until 12th March. Pah! Ah well, I have a few days to get another £30 to "holding" account so I can be uber smug and pay off 1k! Which I don't think will pay it all off, if my rudimentary calculations are correct, but should mean April's D/D clears it.Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Thank god for virtual shopping. I have found a web site that sells 100% natural, veggie make-up and skin products. I have been lusting after them for weeks but have not bought anything. Today I have filled my shopping cart...
Over £100 on makeup, moisturiser, body scrub and hair serum. (Actually, I have no idea if that is normal or not as I rarely buy new stuff. All I know is that if I put mascara on, my eyes are blurry! So I was hunting for natural mascara. Somehow that expanded into all the other pretty things!)
I haven't completed check out! But I really, really want to!
Maybe that can be my treat when NRAM is paid off and lodger is off (21 days to go...)
And once I have cleaned my house and done some of my "home learning" (Nicca speak for trying to become business minded! I was speaking to a friend who is a training co-ordinator. Basically Iwas asking her why she doesn't do private work. Like me, she reckons she would be far too nice and completely undercharge!). I have my book on Uncertainty and a book called Priceless, which is about the the worth we add to prices, so they can be today's reading. My friend is bringing me businessy books tomorrow. She has done a charity/businessy type course (note how much I pay attention to my friend's jobs! My friend who is moving to Dubai definitely has a Chandler type job! Something to do with computers... but not so she can fix mine when it's broke!) so has everthing I'll ever need and have always dreaeded learning!!!!
15 minute chunks? Or maybe half hour ones? It'll take me 15 minutes to read and re-read any complicated sentences! And that's not necessarily understanding them.

Come on share the veggie make up site........ sounds very interesting indeed. I like Liz Earle as an extra special treat. Organic and not tested on animals suits me fine.
