i just did the snowball calculator thingy and it's worse than i feared!!! it's given me a dfd of MAY 2009!!!!!!!!! so much for being debt free when i'm a student again next year! i think some serious changes are called for! should be able to throw more moeny at the debts in the near future...fingers crossed. but it does make for scary reading!
Scary, but don't you feel better for knowing?
Mine's 6 months later than yours, but what I'm going to do is throw as much at my debts as i can, using the figures on the calculator as my minimum payments, and redo the snowball calculator every 6 months. That way I can see a better DFD each time!!OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0 -
Glad to see your doing so well. I like your "make your own happy" line. Sounds eminently sensible to me.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

yeah it is scary. my latest one said a year. i always took it with a pinch of salt because it assumes you will pay interest when your 0% runs out, which i won't. it also doesn't take into account any big payments you can make, like when the bos give me back my charges. but i do think it's a useful tool,. it made me realise that i ought to pay off my od first since i'm paying interest on it. for some reason i'd never thought about it before.0 -
got some exciting and yet horrible news at work yesterday. my work is in a retail park and at the moment asda is my only spend worry (also got mfi, comet pets at home etc but no use to me!), however the unit next door to us is going to be opening soon with what i'm informed is a 'peacocks'. now i've never heard of it before but i've been told it's a clothes shop, like primark but better...i can see lunchbreaks becoming expensive :eek:0

well got paid today :j it's smaller than a normal month cause i'd only been there two and a half weeks before the cut off date, but it's enough! here's my breakdown of wages/bills for this month.
paid £515
bills for next month - £400 = £115
food/spends for next month -£50 = £65
so i have £65 to spend on my bday, £20 for red sparkly shoes, £30 for red sparkly handbag (outfit being made at the mo, only spend for that on eyelets for corset and ribbon) and £15 for night out. i've no doubt i'll get money from my dad and others, which will mostly be put into my savings account, but i'll steal another £15 for the night out.
my £100 from rbs will be used as intended to pay off a third of my od, and in case of struggles i have £40 in my paypal account. i'll try and find stuff and time to list on ebay and hopefully bump this up, then chuck it at my od.
roll on next months wages when that leftover total should read nearer £300 and i can start making a serious dent in my debts. if i can throw all £300 at it every month i'll be debt free within a year.:j0 -
Debt-free within a year- wow, that will be fantastic for you. Red sparkly bag and shoes sound like a good investment to me- I definitely approve.
By the way I much prefer Primark to Peacocks- I've never found anything nice in Peacocks, it all looks cheaper than Primark's stuff to me. Hope this helps! I am glad I don't have a Primark near me at work- I would have to chain myself to the desk during lunch breaks.Debt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24

my tv is mostly on (as it is now) with music playing while i'm online or on my sewing machine. i can watch dvds on my pc, which is what i may have to do.
i totally object to paying tv license and always have done since i had sky, it's like paying twice! i wonder what the chances are of them actually popping round to check i don't have a tv? it's not like they'll ever pick up a signal to it???
Just a note, if you have winamp then you can listen to music online, so that takes care of the missing the music
Congrats on ditching TV, complete waste of time0 -
i totally blew my budget last night. there was a works leaving night and i popped along after work with the intention of one or two cola's...but you know what they say about good intentions. one of the girls bought me a drink so it went downhill from the start!
i ended up taking thirty quid out my bank, i've got about £6 left. i spent the night dancing with my boss and getting somewhat drunk, he walked me home then got a taxi, which has now started heaps of rumours, especially since he's married! (nowt happened like, honest!)
i'm struggling to feel guilty about the money, though i know i should really. but i'm so tired of not going out, or limiting my drinking because of money. so i pay off £50 of my od instead of £100, i'm not going to be young forever so i aught to not miss it.
in the good news column, i was feet away from a topless cute gym guy today, i was also topless there was a group in doing massage and i took advantage of their kindness mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm so fine! oh and the massage was good too! and the new cute member at work was out last night, he bought me a drink my thinks cute gym guy has competition!0 -
Right Lyns I think it's about time we swapped jobs for a couple of weeks, what do you reckon??? I don't have that much fun in my job :-(
I really don't believe in feeling guilty about money spent on a good night. All work and no play makes for a very dull girl... You don't do it all the time so it's just a little slipDebt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24

you'd fit in well at my work, there are a couple of other rounded bellies going about already.
can't say it's all half naked men though. i ended up in the toilets at lunch in tears, but i spoke to the women responsible afterwards and we sorted a few things out, was just a misunderstanding, but it does have it's abd points too, they are just greatly outnumbered by the good.
hope things with you are going well x0
