Yep, can be bext to de-tune it to be on thesafe side too, and make sure you don't leave the cable lying around so it looks like you just unplugged it when you saw the guy coming. You will have to phone them up, or write to them, and explain this is the case.

See http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/gethelp/faqs.jsp#link1 just in case you would like to see it officially - Select 'general questions about TV licences' and its the top one.

i emailed them to explain the circumstances ie not connected to roof arial but can't remove roof arial, keeping tv for gamecube etc will see what they have to say.

also asked that if not having it plugged in wasn't enough to tell me what i have to do.

If you have a tv capable of recieving a signal, whether or not you watch it, and it's plugged in, you will need a tv licence. are you planning on getting rid of your tv then? braver woman than me!
Your right. Even if you just watch dvds or play computer games you need a licence if an aerial is connected.

Hmmm.... this gives me a thought!

I 'time-shift' a lot of my TV viewing by downloading programmes from a website so I can watch them when I want to rather than when they're on.

If I cancelled my Sky I wonder if I could get away without getting a TV licence, as I don't have a working terrestrial aerial?!

well folks, its been a good day off today! went down to the cinema to see pirates...oooh captain jack!!! then over to the gym for a workout and twenty mins in the steam room after.

came home and called up o2 about changing my mobile contract. not impressed with their phone service tho. i'd emailed them at the end of last week to ask them to change my contract and the reply said it could only be done at the end of a contract. !!!!!!!! i thought so i called them up on the number they gave me, the options werent clear so i called the customer services number it referred you to for 'all other enquiries' and on their system it told me to phone up the original number. so i did this and after being on hold for a few mins the women that answered transferred me to the customre services number! argh, anyway a guy answers and i tell him i want to change my contract he takes all my details then checks with his manager that he can do it just now or if it has to be next month (end of my first six months with them), he comes back with good news so i'm now saving £11 a month on my contract. much less mins and texts tho so i need to keep an eye on it and not phone people!

been trying to get hold of the cinema folk too to cancel my card but their number ain't working, shall have a look online to see if their number has changed since i got it!

right folks, for the past few weeks i've lost the momentum i started on here with. i've been changing jobs and because of changing pay dates/frequencies i've not been able to pay anything off my debt in a few weeks either which is making me feel even worse.

i need help! so i've decided to resurect this thread which was abandoned many moons ago. i'm now going to update it on a regular basis and hope you guys will help by kicking my !!!!!! when required and celebrating my successes with me.

since i last posted i cancelled everything apart frOm my gym, but got a job there and in a couple of months (or now if i cancel my dd  ) i'll get free membership, bonus! my cinema card is over and done with, i didn't switch to talk talk as i'd have to pay two bills for two months and then be with them six months till i break even, never mind make any savings! but everythign else is down to bare minimum.

now i just need to strength and encouragment to keep it up, it's tough going, as i'm sure you all know. my new work is right next to asda and the past two days i've stopped taking my purse to work to save nipping over for munchies!

sorry about the long post, but please please please come talk to me on here and help me get debt free, latest snowball gives me a year if i can manage to get payments made, and i really really wanna do it, but i procrastinate too much and need a good boot!

    cheers chucks!
  • Hey Lyns, what I really want to know is whether the cute guy in the gym ever proposed to you?!

You're doing well- don't give yourself a hard time. It's always hard when you can't pay anything off for a while but you will get there hun.
