I'm loving that lurkers are joining in!
  • Thank you LiR...x

I had been planning to do this with other *things* as we're due to have some building work done and although this will increase space, I really need to address why a family of 3 need to have a 5 bed 3 bath house!

I relate to so many things said on here, eg. not having luxuries as a child, carrying the burden of guilt that my Mum & Dad had even less than we did and buying stuff because "I'm worth it". I don't want to be defined by my many material things and what I own.

Debt is not and issue here, if there was one thing that my parents taught me, it was that you don't buy it if you can't afford it. All my purchases are triggered by marketing, occasional boredom and my cleanliness obsession!

    TTFN x

Yes, like you debt is not our problem, in fct, despite our purchases, we manage o save well and have no debt (but are saving to buy a house) but stuff is. Both DH and I are the children of hoarders, both of us had a self made parent who married a parent whose family had been well off...we have storage containers full of furniture and ''stuff'' and yet hoard. DH cn't resist a bargain (or treats for me) where as I save furiously and then spend. We an afford our lifestyle, but don't need too...and the money could be well used in other ways.

Half way between light potato and celery. I usually have it raw and finely shredded/julienne as a salad in various ways or as a mash with chickpeas (which I love). You can also get it in jars ...although that seems harder in UK, and its softer, a bit like asparagus goes when bottled/tinned, but it still makes a good salad, most commonly dressed with a light mayonnaise.

I popped into Boots today to buy my Mum some S&G handfood (it's on offer and she is in Australia - they don't have it there). Anyway, I remembered I had the Dove deodorant voucher in my bag, so I picked up two (I don't have any deodorant stashed away and I don't hoard deodorant anyway) and ended up getting £2.79 off my whole purchase which meant I got the deodorants for free and money off the handfood... So I didn't quite keep to the challenge today, but I am not counting these purchases!!

I also finished up some more sachets over the weekend and I decanted a mini showergel into a bottle of Palmolive Cherry Blossom which I am not keen on (I am hoping that mixing the two scents will make it more bearable). I also finally finished my massive bottle of Clinique Clarifying Lotion (yay) by decanting it into a smaller bottle... My shelves are almost looking spacious... (well almost!!) :j
