Salesaddict of course we don't mind....... I just don't have any advice :( . Must say my fav books are the shopaholic series by Sophie Kinessella - have you read them? they are amazing.[/QUOTE]

Thankyou so much, I will add these to my list. I have 5 library books that I am reading at the moment. At least I will be well-read if nothing else:)

they really are great - Isla Fisher recently starred in the film 'confessions of a shopaholic' which is VERY loosly based on the first book (IMO). If you have a book stash that you have read then check out readitswapit.co.uk You list your books, other list theres and you swap. All it costs is the price of P&P each. I have decided today that I want to read the belle de jour series - so far I have 2 of 4 requests accepted. Eh Voila - I have new books and get rid of the ones I've read.

Do you realise you have made a HUGE step in using the library and not rushing out to buy the books you want....... I am a bit of a book addict and used to spend a fortune before I discovered the above site.
I did mine on Friday night, base plus 2 main plus top coat. Chipping by Saturday, had to touch up and then a full cover touch up to get through yesterday. I took proper time between coats too. No 7 nail varnish is now officially crap IMHO

Well I am now sporting "Rimmel Wear Maxx - 10day" in "hot gossip" - bright red!! What's the betting its chipped by lunchtime (and I only work in an office)
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

    Hello lovely ladies,

I'm in a panic. What's going to happen to the other thread? Only there was lots of kind, generous, advice for me and I need to keep reading it and reinforcing it
in my memory of a goldfish brain. Also, am I getting on your collective nerves with my weak, whingey, naval gazing posts? You all seems so upbeat and light hearted happily using up your stash. You all have your targets and seem to be pursuing them with forensic precision. Also I haven't had a chance to acknowledge everyone's kind posts individually although I do make use of the thanks button. I was wondering about starting a thread under the debt free wannabies and asking for help from any other reformed shopaholics. Obviously as mentioned toiletries and make up are not my only weakness. What do you think?

No salesaddict I don't think you're weak and whiney. You've acknowledged that you have various weaknesses and it will take time to control them. I'm sure you'll find kindness and care here whenever you need it.

I find it very, very hard not going to Lush, buying even more Green People toiletries, Champneys in Sainsburys-the list is endless. I started a couple of years ago when I was in a job I really hated and used to treat myself to toiletries cheer myself up. Now I'm left with the aftermath:eek::eek:

The only good thing to come out of this is that I'm not working and having a stash has come in handy and saved me a lot of money.:j:j

The reformed shopaholic thread is a good idea. You might find that the former shoppers felt that same way you do.
    I went away and now I'm back.:j:j

Hi all, glad everyone seems to be happy to move to the new thread. I just didn't want the old one to disappear! We should bump it every so often so we can still look at it and readthe words of wisdom. :D

Tara- although you keep a track of what you save- are you also keeping a track of what you spend? :o

Yes, and in fact I have moved the £11.50 back out of toiletry savings to my current a/c to 'pay' for the Body Shop stuff and updated my sig. It pains me a bit to see my savings pot reducing... and so it should! That's the only way I'll learn.

  • Zarazara welcome aboard!

SalesAddict don't be daft - you carry on posting what you NEED to express / vent, and we'll carry on trying to help and offer support, in the same way that you would if it were one of us in your position. It might be worth you searching the DFW forum on "shopaholic" to see who else is out there who might be able to offer you support from the benefit of experience. I think your support thread idea is a good one though - after all the gamblers have one, as do those who are trying to cut down on alcohol.

Do you think much of the champneys? I had the overnight hannd cream that was quite good, but have the hand & body lotion now- i think its pretty useless

    Good days here:
    green tea dove gone
    horrible plantana shower gel gone
half of the M&S "scrub" now gone
crabtree & evelyn summerhil hand cream finished
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

    I've been Money Tipped!
PYNM ..can I delay and have PYNthursday? They've got to get me through to Sunday..(I snort at the possibilty of lasting to Sunday relatively chip free, last week monday nights lasted till.....Tuesday about lunch time...grrr). but I'll wear gloves for animal feeds, and someone else is doing most of them....I'm living it up at the weekend....so if that counts for me weekly nail do then I'll use Nars Orgasm on my finger nails and....either the same or a darker one on my toes...I have a lovely blackish pick I quite fancy for toes at the weekend.

Or should I leave fingers unpainted to risk manage...?
