No buying toiletries in February challenge!

Having a horrible weekend so far.
Got a haircut yesterday and I'm really not happy. I have (had) long hair, past my boobies (can't think of another marker to describe it!) and she's taken FAR too much off
It's now sitting just under my collar bone and I am so upset.
OH was meant to be taking me out to a new Brasilian restaurant in Glasgow city centre for lunch this afternoon and I'm so pee'd off I just want to stay in and wallow
Sorry to hear about your haircut....Don't let it get you down....Grab yourself a glass of wine and go and unwind in the bath and pamper yourself....I'm sure you look gorgeous still..:hello:No more toiletries challenge :T

I've come to confess my sins  and i was doing so well. Just after Christmas i was in Next with my Sister and there was a tester perfume without a label on it's own that smelt just like the pink soap & glory products. We didn't have time to find out what it was then and i've been thinking about it ever since. Today i went into Next clearance and i found it again, this time it had a label and there was a shelf full of the perfume. So i bought it, even though i didn't need it.:o It's nice though, it's called Diamonds, it's £6 and the bottle is oh so pretty!
Tut tut Holly! Off you go to write your lines "I must not buy toiletries I don't need until my stash is gone!"
I finished the kitchen handwash this morning - just how dull is that?!! It was the Carex Aloe one. WIBA? - yeah, I expect so. It does what it says on the tin although if another one with the same anti-bac properties jumped out at me and was a cheaper price I'd buy that instead. I had another one in stash so that is now out. They last ages so I won't replace that yet.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Evening all... I wanted to share a tip with you all...
If you're unsure of which cream you might like in the body shop and ask for a sample they fill a lovely little tub with any of the creams you think you might like. The lady filled three for me so I didn't have to fork out £10 replacing a cream I might not like - brilliant huh? Therefore there's now no excuse for me to buy a cream 'just incase'!
I will now get reading as there's been over 30 posts since I was last hereIf you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
Hello all!!!!
Mags30, I got the moisturising gloves at mum's and am going to try them tonight, thank you sooo much! They look gorgeous. :AHaving a horrible weekend so far.

I suppose a positive is that I was in such a rush to get out of the salon after I'd expressed my anger at the stylist that I didn't succumb to the usual buying of £25 shampoo.
Not happy
Oh poor thing. That's happened to me a few times, it is so upsetting!!! What is it with some hairdressers, they don't seem to listen when you say you just want a trim! One thing you could do (if you have straight hair) is to straighten it, it does make it look a little longer and might help a bit.
I agree that you should call them again to say that you are really not happy with it, and see if they offer you a discount on your next visit.
Well done on not buying the dear shampoo though. :TI have sprayed and love both of them but I didn't exactly need them. I can't seem to resist trying things that are new and in nice packaging. I don't have a Body Shop obsession and have never bought anything on QVC. Does anybody else have this obsession with new and advertised things?
I don't really TBH, I am very picky about what I try, esp with this challenge. I don't buy everything new that's advertised, well sometimes I do buy something if it's had really amazing reviews, and I did queue up for a bottle of P&P after the Horizon prog. :rotfl: I love the Body Shop (but only ever buy on glitches as their prices have gone daft in the last few years!! I don't watch QVC as I find the presenters reallt patronising, so that saves me a fortune.rosemary54 wrote: »sorry can't do as not got a camera(well OH has but have no idea how to work one:rotfl::rotfl:and phone is one from that dark ages that he gave me when work updated his)

Hi there all, very interesting thread.
Well I'm just starting out on the Grocery Challenge and as it has been a bit of a battle with OH I have to address what my family and friend call an 'addiction' to buying toiletries. Not really expensive ones really, i don't have huge stocks of the same product but I do buy an awfully large quantity of shampoo and shower gels. Toothpaste can also be a bit of a stash too but 9 times out of ten its because I've forgotten which of the Colgates I like and end up with something that positively burns my mouth!
So, what's the first step to the 'No more toiletries until my stash has gone' challenge please?
Do I need to list it all? I just went in the bathroom and cringed a little at how much I can see and thats without opening the bathroom cabinet. And of course there's some more (not so much) in the bedroom.
Do I include razors etc? Do I include OH's stuff like shower gel, shaving gel, etc. too?
I used to have a large collection of the Boots freebie make up bags but have managed to palm most of those off onto my daughter and granddaughter (products for D and bags for GD).
OK, hope to hear from you soon.Mortgage Free October 2013 :T0 -

hi Spiggle,
the best startting point it to list alll your toiletries and photograph them. i included DH's and DS's stuff as they have a lovely stash each too.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Thanks Chickywiggle, I'm off to list now. I may be gone for some time ............Mortgage Free October 2013 :T0

LOL - welcome Spiggle!
You can run it whichever way you like, really. Some of us have realised that the reason we've got stashes is that we've simply not been using the stuff for various reasons - mainly the thing I think that has stood out is the number of people almost feeling as though they can't use the stuff because then it would be gone - silly and illogical, but there you have it! I found that, for me, I needed to drag everything out of the cupboard it lives in to see what I had - I made discoveries whilst doing it too which were almost like a mini-shopping trip! It's really then just a case of working through stuff - the toothpastes you don't get on with for example, the rest of your family may be fine with, so they can use those up whilst you're using something else.

Hi all, wow, what a lot to catch upon. I still haven't bought anything (except deodrant which I had ran out of) since I began the challenge, so I am very pleased with myself.:)
I have used loads of half empty bottles of shampoo, conditioner, spray in conditioner, leave in conditioner, hand cream, moisturiser, 2 x bottles of perfume, body lotion, and body butter.
I hate body lotion, I find it thin & watery, it wont rub in properly, and I have very dry skin so it's crap anyway!!
I will NEVER EVER buy it again!! A couple of times I bought gift packs of perfume with body lotion as part of a set, thinking it was good value. NOT when I've got loads of the flaming stuff, and I hate it. I have given dd some, but she's not keen.
Still I am getting through my stash, and saving my cash:rotfl:
