This is really boring compared to everyone else's buys (or temptations) but I bought a big pot of petroleum jelly for 99p

I use on my hands under gardening gloves (when i'm gardening).

Thats not boring Jacey. I bet your hands are lovely and smooth after that. But for myself I really dislike petroleum jelly. It has a scent that I really don't like. Even though a lot of people say that its unscented. Also, I think it ruins your lips. It kind of breaks them up iykwim. But I do remember, now I come to think of it, by best friend from school used to use it on her eyelashes each night and she did have lovely, thick, lustrous, lashes. She used to apply it with an old mascara wand.
I don't rate Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour cream for the same reasons. Glorified vaseline at an exhorbitant price. (ooh I think I am becoming proper mse):o

Had a succesful bath today! Used up the dregs of 2 very old bath salts/gel and experimented by putting some VERY old body lotion in!! Also used the last of a Lush Ayesha face mask (horrible, horrible smelly stuff!!) and a couple of sachets of sample shampoo. Started on some awful smelling Dead Sea Spa Magik body lotion, it's a hugggge bottle so will take ages to use up darn it!

Does anyone know if anywhere sells Barefoot Doctor products still? I forgot how much I like them!! Also, does anyone know of a good overnight treatment gel for the face? I love the Superdrug Clarity one but has been discontinued and the Boots one doesn't smell too good!

Have you ever hadan unsuccessful bath then?:D Have you got any essential oils that you could put into the dead see stuff to make it nicer to use?

I have noticed there is a bit of a QVC theme going on here.

Own up- all of those of you that are using up L'Occitane, Liz Earle, Elemis etc- did you all get suckered in with QVC's todays special values?

Oh boy I have done many a time, plus with easy pay, super sizes its all just a phone call away. Its all too easy to get caught up in the sales pich, limited stock-sold out last time-etc etc.
To my shame and horror most of my stash is from QVC, my rational has always been that living in this part of Essex the shoping options are not so good. Since Ive started this challange I've been thinking about all kinds of areas of my life that I seemed to have slip into over the years with out being aware of it. I just am flabergasted that at 48 years old I could have got so caught up in 'get it before it sells out' mantra that all the presenters reel off all the time. Its like it becomes a race that you become involved in, but yet you know its a sales pitch and why do I need another c&p I have enough, but then you might lose the race and be left out. So I pick up the phone and before you know it I have another one.:eek::eek:

Sorry I'm rambling again. Time to say nite nite.

:rotfl:Surprisingly I don't think I do have any essential oils! (I've missed out on buying those!!) I have some darphin stuff which I think is supposed to be for oil burners! Might mix in a bit of some other moisturiser to make it smell a bit better...there's so much of it!! I got it as part of some great offer megapack which is not really so great as I don't like the smell :rotfl:. Luckily a lot of it is vegan friendly so I can pass bits on to my vegan friend for her birthday :D

Saleaddict, I think you're really very brave (hope I don't come across as patronising) for facing up to your problems, hope that I can do the same...going to be brave and join up to the Weight Watchers thread too, er, soon!

Annoyingly, I have now found some extra stuff

2 hand creams (one now by computer and one in work bag - there's one at work too :o)
some darphin samples (from friend's hen party spa day)
time delay radiance balm

when will it end!!!!!!!!!
I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around

I finally got round to uploading the pic of my stash I took on my phone on 22nd Jan...so here it is

DSC00037.JPG

Although I need to add the contents of another hatbox to that which was present from OH collected after photo was taken

Behind the ifoam are all my tubs of body butter stacked up...the photo is a bit misleading, was lookin at it a min ago thinking to myself "um therereally isn't that much there!"

Are they M&S body butters behind the i-foam? My god I flippin love the shea butter (?) one, it's soooo nice and just soaks right into my skin :o I'm determined not to buy anymore until I've used the other one and my S&G stuff. I haven't even tried my i-foam yet  my new rule is not to open anything if I already have one open. It's actually working... keeps the clutter out of the bathroom which makes less room in ht edraw for me to buy anything new.

Thats some stash you've got there btw :T

salesaddict I've read your other thread and although I don't have any advice I wish you all the best :j

Loving the tip about the petroleum jelly on eye lashes, might have to try that one!! Is vaseline the same thing?
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.

I can't believe how many people have already posted on the thread. I feel so much better just knowing I am not alone and other people have got their shopping under control.

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2246399

Hope I have done this right:o

salesaddict, I thought your opening post on your new thread was great. There's some really good advice there already and I'm sure it's going to help a lot of others too! Good luck!

sonee.........I agree I've got rid of lots of odds and sods of not-very-good creams and lotions on my feet this week!!

Just finished off the very old dregs of Gucci Envy shower gel, another tube in the bin! My L'Oreal mascara is coming to an end I fear, I've got the mini No 7 freebie from the chain mail bag to go next.

BTW, is anyone going to drop any heavy hints for Valentines Day?!!

• Opi is good for lasting, but also expensive (though there is an ebay seller who sells it for around £4 a bottle, which is better than most places). Rimmel wear max is quite good also,if you're looking for something cheaper. Using a topcoat makes it last a lot longer too.

Ditto here for top coat, I had a cheap 59p one that I bought from Boyes that didn't last a night - but I loved because it was pure glitter and it showed up like a normal colour - rather than a sparse glitter cover, put a top coat on it and it shone more than ever and it lasted a full 4 days with only one small chip.
• ohh just a note of caution - if anyone else is looking forward to using the double end (metallic base coat/ black top coat) mascara (unbranded) that came free with a magazine around Christmas time (I think Company but I could be wrong). DON'T bother. Its appaling - I used it once and binned it. The metallic base coat didn't appear to do anything and both wands are soo huge (aka mascara wands from the 90's) it's impossible to get a decent coat. I didn't see any improvement to my lashes either. Straight in the bin that went.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
• I've noticed that by spending 5 minutes in the evening on hands/feet or body I am slowly finishing products that are usually difficult to use up.
Me too....I've used up more body lotions in the last few weeks then I would've done before, probably would've taken me months, as I use to only use it when I could be bothered!!
Thank goodness this challenge came along, and made me see how much I have accumilated....
:hello:No more toiletries challenge :T

I've convinced that one day there will be a world shortage of soap, shower gel, hand cream and body butters.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
So I am prepared.:j:j:j
I went away and now I'm back.:j:j
