No buying toiletries in February challenge!

  • Hi everyone. I have decided to bite the bullet and join this thread! Well done everyone who has managed to go without buying any more stuff this year. I am going to have to start from the beginning of February, after realising that a large amount of under-the-bed storage space is taken up with 3 boxes of toiletries/cosmetics, as well as a box on top of the wardrobe.

I have such a problem with not being able to resist a bargain! But what makes me thing I need, for instance, 9 body lotions? Do I think I'm an elephant or something?

    Like MsRed1, I too am
convinced that one day there will be a world shortage of soap, shower gel, hand cream and body butters.

(not sure if quote worked - not done one before! :))

Urgh, I've rationed my supplies. Its hateful.

I packed up all the "new" items and put them in a box at my OH's house so I can't get at them easily..

It forces to use the "half used" items, and supplies are dwindling.

Imagine my horror when my Batiste dry shampoo and the Veet were both in need of a re-stock and I had no access.

    Cue palpatations.

Anyway, I said Sayonara to the boring bath foam. I am now onto "half used Sanctuary shower gel with beads" and another shampoo bit the dust.

Opened my second to last St Tropez exfoliator...which means only one is in stock.

So I went to Boots and £80+ later, here I am . I put in the P+P day serum and the night creme. Then to get 2 GWP's, I added the lip/eye shimmer and the age cleanser (these will both do MiL part of her mothers day gift). I had a £5 voucher and got a 250pt voucher. I also bought the gillette fusion razor and 12 blades (£20), 2 packs of cotton wool and then found 2 gift sets of gillette fusion with shower gel and lotion for £5 each.
When I got home, I realised that the £5 voucher had taken off my 250 extra points. DH didn't seem overly impressed with the gillette gift sets (the multi pack was for me).

I then used the P+P night creme the following night and don't know if it's going to suit me? (I'm using a sample size atm).
I'm wondering whether to return the 2 gillette gift sets? They were £5 each but scanned at £9.99- what would happen if I returned them without a receipt? Also, if I change my mind about the P+P night cream and return it without a reciept, would I have to return the GWP?
Would I be better off hanging onto them for a little longer and then returning them and will I get the money put back onto a gift card?

I'm happy about the serum. I know Bronnie was saying about the age bit but I find it fab. I'm almost 32 but have been working full time nights for many years and don't get enough sleep. I work in an air conditioned environment and can go for 11 hours without a drink. My skin needs this! Funny though because I've never been a one to use cream before!

In other news, I finally used up that blasted fructis conditioner. DH has used an orange hair thing (goodness knows what!). I was saying to him how good this challenge is and he said "maybe for you it is, but I'm stuck using up a roll on deodorant I can't stand the smell of because I can't find anything else!" (It's all still carefully hidden in the seethrough toiletry bag under the sink!).
    Cheerio, Kaz.

    Water- PAH! Coffee!
I'm gradually working my way through the herbal teas though! I've got them all out of the cupboard and sat them on the side in the kitchen. I've managed to use 3 boxes since doing this. Hmm, I'm actually sad enough to have counted up how many tea bags were in each box and I've put the fullest at the bottom of the pile so I can use them up quicker (snigger!).

It's funny looking in the mirro cause I'm getting all crinkly under my eyes when I smile. I'm happy to see more laughter lines than frown lines though!

I finished the toothpaste this morning - three more big tubes to go before I can buy the one I actually like! What was I thinking beyond "must grab that bargain ......"?

I just want to add that No7 can be really expensive. A lot of No7 face creams cost nearly as much as the cheaper items on a lancome/clarins/clinique counter and you would get a far better GWP from those brands. I think you should return some of it Kaz because you could get better value for the same money. Next time you need razor blades buy them during No7 voucher time so that you can get a No7 cleanser really cheap with them.

I finished another bland bottle of M&S bubble bath last night, I emptied the rest of the bottle (which was more than a baths worth) into the bath to use it all up! I have started a mini Molton Brown shower gel and it is lovely...
I'm buying No More Toiletries, I'm Deluttering and I'm Losing Weight for 2010!
