Am I the only person the world who thinks Jaffa cakes are just disgusting? I would far rather have 93 slices of fresh bread and butter :o.

Grateful - huge hugs for you and yours.
Greenbee - pigeon, dont pan fry the breasts and burn your frying pan which is what DH did last time we had some. Still chuntering about it 5 years later is excessive apparently, but I liked that frying pan.
Mummyof5 - huge hugs for you, I dont remember you ever having said about LO playing up before, so clearly you deserve some hugs.

Toots - please may I have my other four stars now :D:D. I have dysoned the place within an inch of cleanliness.

Poohbear - that is just shocking and wrong. I hate, hate, hate going to the Dr's and things like that do not help.

WHY do people refer to REUSE as recycling?

    IT ISN'T!

recycling is when you take something (ie a can) melt it/break it down and use it to MAKE something ELSE.

When you use something again it is just that. Reusing. So reusing is BETTER than recycling becaus eoyu aren't using any energy to convert it to something else. So making my own jam and reusing jam jars is very green indeed.
And some of the jars I use have had for years. One I have filled today came with two others in a set given to me by a pupil in 2004!
    Now THAT'S green!

Thanks for the good wishes for my hospital appointment. Good news is that I can drive again.

Bad news is that the nurse and doctor were total *******s. The treatment of the patients yesterday was atrocious, rough handling and quite disturbing. I suppose I am lucky to have never experienced anything like it before. As soon as I was home DH suggested I write it all down and I make a complaint.

I am very upset about the treatment of all the elderly patients who were seen yesterday who were pushed through and roughly man-handled like a production line. The other nurses were lovely and it was a shock to be treated in that way.

The thing is because of my work in the past I know that the 'Patients Charter' was designed to make sure that things like that didn't happen anymore. The nurse was rough and put drop in my eyes without telling me what she was about to do, or why.

The doctor wouldn't let me speak, told me not to speak and I had to listen to him and then dismissed me. No chance to explain my symptoms, no chance to ask questions.

Sorry to moan, I am just very upset by it.
    :)

Complain like mad, this is dreadful. People do that kind of thing to the elderly and vulnerable because they think they can, if you complain, they will realise they can't.

dw and wm on again, DH has surfaced, and had a bath and made it to collect his paper. Still feeling wobbly, but I think he has frightened himself, which in itself is no. bad. thing.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

I don't like them either hex!

    Hugs pooh - def complain.

I've been into town as I'd got to fetch DS's prescription but other than that I've done nothing. Got a bit of a headache at the mo and can't make my mind up whether to go and have a lie-down - which seems a bit of a waste when I'm on my own - or do a HHC.

God I hate shopping centres. And sorry for those on the south coast who may have very different views, but I think the West Quay shopping centre in Southampton is one of the worst I've had the misfortune to encounter. So many people!

But DS got given a new iphone so he's happy. By the time we'd looked around all the shops in that part of Southampton (the only thing I ended up buying was a £1 camera case from poundland!) and got back to West Quay for lunch, the top floor there was like some refugee place. It was so busy people were sitting on the floor eating their fish and chips and burgers!

So we hightailed it out of there and ended up at a delightful little cafe in Lyndhurst for a chicken salad lunch (which DS paid for!). Then with the delay caused by the roadworks on the main road into town, I've only just got home after having left at 11am!

But, as I said to DS as we waited on the car park that was the A338, at least I can say I've been to West Quay and can categorically state I don't EVER need to go there again!

Just trying to rehydrate as I've only had one cup of tea since 10.30am. I've just downed a large glass of water and am now on a huge mug of tea. I feel quite exhausted now!

  • well I have washed DS's bedding and pillows. His mattress has been cleaned as best I can and is now standing upright on the landing whilst a 20 yearold fan heater blows warm air at it. I have washed the high sleeper frame and moved all the furniture to make sure I didn't leave any sick behind (sorry if tmi!!)

I have bicarbed the floor and Dysonned the carpet to within an inch pf it's life!

Yes DS is old enough to clean up his own mess...but he went to work and it stank so I got on with it - he will have to make it up to me somehow! He managed 4 hours at work but then he was ill again and got sent home!:eek:! He's been asleep in my bed since!

So I have done a lot today - BUT NONE OF IT IS WHAT I HAD PLANNED!!!!!:mad::mad:

I am now so far behind on all the posts that I've no chance of catching up, I hope everyone is well, happy and appropriately hugged. Sorry for the lack of posts over last couple of days - I am trying to keep my moaning to myself!

Anyway, thanks to this lovely thread, my house is sparkling all over again, however, there is one thing on Wednesday's Level 3 that I can't do, which is replace the pillows (because I haven't budgeted for them in February), however, to compensate, I have researched the best prices for decent quality pillows, checked which ones need replaced (including spare guest pillows), and added it to March's pay day budget. I hope this is enough to still be awarded the full star, but if not, then I'll need to take it on the chin.

Toots / Soappie, please may I have my 3 remaining stars if the above is acceptable, otherwise, please can I have 2 more. Thank you so much.

Okay, I'm off to go and back MIL a birthday cake now - thank goodness for a full baking cupboard, although will have to be ginger cake (don't even know if she likes ginger cake, unless I can find some butter in the freezer, in which case I can make a chocolate cake (I need the butter for the butter icing, not the baking itself).

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, stay safe and happy and see you on the next thread ... I'm back off to grumpy land xxx
