im sure it is possible in something, but to do it every gallon without trying in a normal run of the mill car would be impossible at the moment i think.

I'm sure I read this a while ago however you may be correct 100 miles was motorway miles not city driving.

The silly wee lupo (diesel) does a great amount of miles per gallon.

I used to have two Polo's of around that age (firstly a B reg, then a D reg) both with the 1043cc engine.

I clocked up terrific mileage on both without problem. Infact I still see the D reg one about - the B reg was written off a few years ago. I always changed the oil every 5k miles though.

The only problem, common to both (and many other Polo's of that age it transpired) was a faulty temperature warning light which flashed at random. The temperature gauges were however accurate so the red flashing light could be safely ignored.

As someone else said, the brakes did lack a servo, but once you got used to it, it was fine.

If the car is as good as said, I would certainly buy it for £400 providing it has an MOT.

The best MPG figure quoted by VW for the current Polo model is 78.5, for extra urban driving.

This car is £400 and you are expecting to get a warranty with it?

All dealers are subject to the SOGA, but at £400 I think that you are expecting a bit too much.

Well I have had this car for ten months, no problems apart from the exhaust falling off. the garage repaired it for £30.
