I make cheese pasties - mix mashed potatoes, loads of mature cheddar a touch of mustard and white pepper, can either make them square or sausage roll shaped. I also add onion and if giving them to the kids I add extra veg.0

One thing I made with puff pastry was to use up left over chicken
and bacon .
Cook bacon and chop up.
Lie a sheet of puff pastry on a greased baking tray and stab it all over.
Put a tub of double cream with pepper, salt and grated cheese in to
a microwavable bowl and zap for 3 mins in microwave.
Add cooked chicken and bacon to bowl, mix well and let cool.
Put into middle of pastry and place another sheet of pastry on top.
Seal edges and cook untill risen.
Went down well with hubby and kids, we had it with potato wedges0 -
Hi pinkpinkfizz,
I use leftover pastry to make savoury pinwheels. Roll the pastry into a rectangle. Spread with tomato puree. Top with chopped cooked bacon and grated cheese. Roll it into a sausage shape and slice. Cook in the oven at 180 degrees until golden.

sausage meat and baked bean pasties
for the mixture you need sausage meat, baked beans, onions and mushrooms, fry onions and mushrooms, add sausage meat and brown then add baked beans, then make into pasties and bake for 30mins.

On the savoury side you could make some minced meat pasties aka cornish pasties, cheese and potato pasties or chicken and veg pastiesBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

bumped for thoughts on this
have puff pastry in the fridge, going to make a quick easy pudding by doing apple and chocolate swirls. apples are cooking ones and galaxy chocolate both chopped up and then placed on the pastry, rolled up then sliced into the oven.
looking to see if you all think thats ok or should i do it a different way?0 -
Be careful that the juices don't run out and make the pastry soggy - I suppose it would depend on how thin the slices were. What about a sort of strudel, then cut into slices?0
