Jesus, from the sounds of it. it's like you can never get rid of the !!!!!!s! I currently have a flea problem but reading on the internet that nothing kills the eggs then how do you get rid of th eggs???

    http://www.fleafree.co.uk/solutions/en/eliminate.shtml
The pupae in particular are difficult to remove, because no currently available insecticide will penetrate their cocoons, and they are usually spun around the base of carpet fibres.

The council are coming round on Tuesday to fumagate the place but will they be able to kill the eggs?
  • The cats who visit our garden all have flea's - is it cat flea's our dog is picking up?

  • We had a really bad flea infestation, and worms... Nice.
To get rid, use Frontline on Cats, kills all fleas on cat in 1 day, and worm them aswel. If they have fleas they will almost certainly have worms.
The best way to get rid of the fleas and eggs is to get them to hatch.
Turn up the central heating for a week, and put bowls of water around, and hoover everyday.
Basically flea eggs need 3 things to hatch, heat, moisture and vibrations (hoover). I guarantee all the flea eggs will hatch after a week of this, and promptly jump on the cat (or you - might be wise to go out a lot this week) and then die from the Frontline.
Minimum chemicals, only flea stuff on cat, and flea free house and cats. Worked for us.

  • Sorry, resurrecting this old thread to ask a few questions about fleas :o

My dog is constantly scratching, has quite a few bite marks on her and patches where her skin has gone a browny/pink colour. I've only found a few fleas but I guess they are bothering her quite a bit. She was also like this in March and the vet gave her an injection to stop the fleas, treated her with Frontline and gave me some Fuciderm cream to help with the bites.

I obviously need to treat her again with Frontline but don't really want to pay the vets fees, can I get it without prescription? I want to get the house treated as well but have only carpet on the stairs (floorboards/tiles everywhere else) and a leather sofa . I have floor length curtains and an old armchair which she sits on so they could get treated. She also sometimes sleeps on the beds during the day, what's the best way to treat these? Spray the mattress and put the sheets on a boil wash? Is it worth also getting flea shampoo? She goes to the groomers every 8-10 weeks and is washed in it there.

Lastly, I have a toddler so will the room sprays be safe with him around? I was thinking of getting the Vet kem Acclaim spray.

Sorry there's so many questions, hope someone can give me some hints!

    Thanks :D

Regarding the fleas my cat came home with these last week as soon as we knew bathed him using a flea repellent shampoo and coming him through while still wet throwing any fur/fleas in loo , once he had been blow dried combed through again putting fur in loo again, replaced his flea collar and chucked him outside for next few days. Went through the house very clinically spraying, vaccuming and bleaching anywhere and everywhere including behind radiators. Each day brought cat in house long enough to chuck in bath to be combed through so fleas that were still hatching had nothing to cling to and could be swilled down plug hole and again any fur that came away in loo. Did this every day for nearly a week and by then no more eggs were coming off him and looking at his skin he seems clean and clear but will still continue the daily grooming.

I took Clio to the vet today for her first booster injection. The vet checked her over and found no signs of fleas. I bought a six pack of frontline to use over the next six months. Whilst Clio does not have fleas, I believe we have them in the house. I already had 7 bites, and in the last half hour, another one has appeared. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do.
