sky tv owe me money alot

Options
i cancelled my sky TV package at my old address 3yrs, it has come to my recent attention that i had not cancelled my direct debt with them so when i did. i started to get letters at my mums address that i owed them 18.50. but when ive looked into this it turns out sky have been taking money out of my account for the last 3yrs for the house that i have not lived in. when i rang them they said it was the banks fault not there's so i went into the bank and they gave me the money and said that they would get it back of sky. i have recently had a indemnity claim letter of them saying that i owe them and if i don't pay they will send bailiffs round to get it i have rung them numerous times and keep getting put off i have to wait for someone from customer relations to ring me. please can someone advice me on what to do now i am thinking of taking them to court but i don't no how to do that

So in all the 3years you never seen BSKYB taking funds from YOUR bank account by looking at a statement.
  • Perhaps you could start by checking your bank statements - I have little sympathy for you. No doubt you blame Sky for your laziness.

What you should do is write a letter of complaint to Sky. nI the letter ask them to put any money owing on hold until your compaint is settled. If you are then unhappy you can ask Sky for a deadlock letter and refer your complaint to the regulator.

As for it being the bank's fault that cannot be the case as Sky must initiate any direct debit collection from your account.
  • i do check my bank statements but as i have sky at my new house i thought it was for there

I am confused. Are you now saying that you are paying twice because you have two accounts with Sky? You will need to make clearer your precise situation.

Did you cancel the DD and sky are still taking the money regardless
    or
You didn't cancel the DD with the bank?

If you failed to cancel the old DD then the dispute is between you and Sky. Your bank have done nothing wrong. There was an active DD on the account, Sky have continued to initiate payments, and the bank have paid them.
I don't understand your comment that you also have a current Sky a/c at the new property. If so, you must have 2 Sky debits on your a/c every month, did you not notice that?

I thought he said at the beginning that he had cancelled his Sky TV. Surely that means that Sky have incorrectly been taking money from his account. He correctly claimed back under the direct debit guarantee.

Yes, but the error is not the bank's, it's Sky's.

  • yes i did ring sky up and cancelled it but obviously the man i spoke 2 didn't. i have been into the bank so i no its not there fault, but they gave me the money back, and they would get it back of sky. the bank has been in touch with them thats why they have sent me an indemity claim letter. all i want is to speak to the right people at sky but it just seems to be impossible. if any1 would like to walk a day in my life they'd be in a mental hospital by the end of the day lol
