Thank you again. We do trust her and to date she has always come in on time...told us where she would be etc...We expect her to be adult about college and work, being responsible, dependable etc, we cant then decide to treat her like a child when it suits us I guess..:o

I think the time has come  lol

It's tough isn't it. Just remember, a couple of generations ago people started full time work at 14 !

At 16, I had no curfew as I had already moved out and had my own place.

My eldest is 16, on school nights he has to be in by 10.15, Friday night 10.45 and he tends to stay at a friends house on Saturday night.

When he is out, he has to ring me when he is on his way home so I can estimate the time he will be in, just in case there is any trouble on the way home....oh and if he is late, he gets grounded.

    He is never late.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

it takes a lot of adjustment and you will have some nights where you are on the edge of your seat but it gets easier the more times she goes out and comes home safely.

DD is out tonight she used to get the whole lecture about keeping safe, making sure she texts on her way home etc etc EVERY time she went out, now it's just "have fun, and you know the drill" lol

It sounds as though your daughter is very sensible and has a good head on her shoulders, I'm sure she will be fine :)

Well tonight after a chat we have "let her go" We had a chat with her, I guess we gave her the "drill" lol and have said her best friend can sleep here tonight as they will be coming back together. We also explained the reason we were "Backing off" is because the last few months she has seemed to really of grown up and all the time she is being so mature, we will treat her as such. We did say though that she can call AT ANY time if she needs one of us to go get her if anything upsetting happens....NOT as a free taxi! LOL

Ok so now I wait! Its going to be a long night! lol

    Thank you all x

When I was 15 my curfew was 9.30pm, 16 it was 10.30, 17 it was 11.30. Up until I left school at 18 I was only allowed out 1 night a week and as soon as I finished my final I didn't have a curfew anymore. I must say though I went WILD when I left school - out until all hours with all sorts of people that my parents wouldn't approve of. One night I didn't get home until 11am and my mother was very upset with me. I didn't understand that my parents may be worried, I just wanted to have fun. Yep, I realise now that I was completely selfish. If it hadn't been for my strict curfew I would have been a lot wilder, a lot earlier.
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Do you also think that if you had of had more leeway then going out would not of been a "forbidden fruit", no need to exploit as it was always there next weekend to kinda thing? I am genuinely interested.

My daughter, since turning 16 has always had a curfew of 12 on a Sat night, its the only night she goes out because of her college/working week. Tonight we have stepped back a bit :)
