    You are changing things to suit, your OP reads;

    So QUESTION:
If someone used my card without my authorization, say bought a sat nav in asda for £100 on 1/1/2010, if i cancelled that very card THE SAME DAY. Would the transaction still go through?

Which is different entirely to buying online.

Buying in Asda requires a PIN.
    Im not changing anything?

Wish i didnt put the EXAMPLE now.

Have changed it to keep you happy.

I dont know why this has gone off topic, im asking if you can cancel a transaction made by someone other than myself on the day they used it. What does it matter what card it is, where it was used, why it was used, who used it, what reason did they use it, if it was a family member, if it was the queen or if it was my left foot?

No its a more of 'knowing what to do or expect if it happened to me'

Now i know if my card was used that i wont be able to cancel any transactions the theif made, even if its on the day.

Nevermind, i guess credit cards are the best option to prevent any loss due to fraud.

If it was used fradulantly you can have the transaction reversed - there is no need (or point) to cancel the card.

Stolen and used by a theif?

Surely if the thief was the user then it was used with the user's permission? ;)

Isnt it impossible to steal your own card?

So what are you getting at?

Regardless of what card it is?

:rotfl::rotfl: I am still laughing at that, you havn't changed anything and then you are changing it to keep me " happy ".

I am now more confused than you seem to be.

I will leave you to it.

    Me to :rotfl:

your avoiding the real question and instead asking questions regarding my example or why this situation would happen. When it could easily happen hence why im asking the question as i know someone it has happened to.
    :j

Your very helpful by the way (!)

If the thief used the card, the thief is the user. The thief has their own permission to use the card, but probably not the owner's. I didn't say anything about stealing your own card.

Unlikely. By the time you've reasonably proved it's 'fraud' .... it's too late for you to reverse the transaction. You need to leave the cure in the hands of your card / Bank's fraud section.
    - there is no need (or point) to cancel the card

..... every point. If your card details are available to someone out there .... are you just going to give them more chances?
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

excuse me if i seem a little slow but i still dont understand what point your trying to get across...

Of course if a theif stole my card and asked himself if he can use it then im sure he would grant himself permission or he/she wouldnt of stole it in the first place.
