Stolen and used by a theif?
    a family relative
    wife/gf
    friend
    list goes on and on....

Remember not all online stores ask for the CV2 number on the back. And theres still companys out there that dont even ask for the name and address the credit/debit card is registered with when placing a order.

So its EXTREMELY easy for anyone to use your card, with or WITHOUT physically having it.

1 of my friends has had it happened to him.

Take it you dont know anyone this has happened to?

Your example was somebody using it in Asda, they would need the pin number to do that, only the user will know that.

Well unless they were stupid enough to allow someone else to know it of course.

But that would breach the T&C's of the card issuer, that the user agreed to.

    It was an example...

I use my card online for shopping.

So anyone can buy a sat nav from asda online without the pin (EXAMPLE)

    You are changing things to suit, your OP reads;

    So QUESTION:
If someone used my card without my authorization, say bought a sat nav in asda for £100 on 1/1/2010, if i cancelled that very card THE SAME DAY. Would the transaction still go through?

Which is different entirely to buying online.

Buying in Asda requires a PIN.

Is there a motive behind your question? I.e. has your card been used without your permission? If it has, then just say and people can advise you accordingly.

Unless it's a chip and signature card.

That thought had crossed my mind as well.. I thought that perhaps a family member might have used it, but I could of course be wrong.

No its a more of 'knowing what to do or expect if it happened to me'

Now i know if my card was used that i wont be able to cancel any transactions the theif made, even if its on the day.

Nevermind, i guess credit cards are the best option to prevent any loss due to fraud.
