If you have a printer, or can send recipes to your e mail account then use a library's computer and printer, there are loads of tried and tested (British rather than American) recipes in the slow cooker thread on here.
Hugs to MoneySavingDiva, PennyPincher, smokey, taplady's husband, congrats to Hesters hubby on the new job.:j
DD(16) has a school friend sleeping over (actually sleeping as they are both staying at another friend tonight) so house is quiet. Oldest DD is asleep and other two are not here this weekend.
DH has brought me a cup of tea and I am enjoying the quiet. His company car was collected last night, he has handed back his company laptop etc and from Monday he will be "working from home" , which is how I have suggested he think of it, rather than early retirement. He does not like the idea of being old enough to retire _pale_
The new car was delivered a couple of days ago and the delivery driver says it "sips petrol" which is one of the reasons we chose it.
It has £35 a year road tax, low insurance, good warranty and average of 64 mpg.
Quirky looking, practical workhorse of a car, as we still have a daughter in her final year at uni and another DD who wants to go in a couple of years.
We also want to be able to load up with lots of shopping or luggage etc, if we need to.
We looked at lots of cars over the last few months, especially the new ones that came out last October, the Citroen Nemo, Fiat Quobo, Peugot Bipper Outdoor etc (like smaller versions of Berlingo and Partner). Finally decided on the Peugot only to find "they were like gold dust" to get your hands on - and DH had to ring places all round the country. Eventually came across a garage in Grimsby that tracked down a new one, got us a really goood deal and delivered it two days before we needed it.
We are so pleased with them we are going to use them when Dds need a car and DH is recommending them to his friends even though we live about 100 miles away.
Might make some lentil soup later in the slow cooker and use up leftovers while DH and DD are out for the day. Might make some home made bread rolls as they always get scoffed and go well with soup.
When youngest DD and friend eventually surface might offer to make home made pancakes for them both (friend is veggie).
It is icy here but there is no snow so will suggest DH phones his friend to see what the weather is like round Whitby before he sets off. It will be a good test of the new car so hope he is careful.
He was sweet yesterday when I was upset at not being back to normal yet and has promised to take me to the seaside and walk me round on his arm when the weather is better and build up my stamina. I'm better enough to be restless and want to get stuff done then get tired so easily I feel useless.
The snow and ice set everything back so looking forward to nicer Spring days.
DD(16) has donated H her mobile and I have ordered her a new pay as you go one from O2 in the sale ( LG Chocolate). Have "mumbled" the approximate price of handset to DH - It is a late 16th birthday pressie to her and saved £50 so I can justify it. Just hope it arrives safely as have not had the e mail confirming it yet.
Quick wave hello to sandy and mancmilly :hello:
Hugs and see you later"This site is addictive!"

Sorry that I have not posted much this week. Life has been getting on top of me again. However I went for a haircut and colour on Thursday and it kinda looks better.
OS - well I have been trying. The usual stuff with the help of my kids and cleaner. I have just invested in Easi-yo yogurty making as Im eating pots of the stuff at the moment in a bid to prevent the formation of a stomach ulcer caused by my new meds.
Hester - really pleased that hubby got a new job.
xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
sorry i haven't posted much recently- its been one thing after another lately.
oh was in an accident 2 weeks ago and broke his leg so he's off work for the duration- dr reckons its gonna be at least a month after the cast comes off that he can even think about going back to work and even then its doubtful he will be able to cope with riding a motorbike 10-12 hours a day, so a career change might be on the cards.
i have been frantically looking for a job to bring some money in, and i got one yesterday. start on monday so its a mad rush to get everything sorted before then lol.
are there any threads on o/s mums who work? i would be very interested in reading them, as i have no clue how i'm going to cope tbh- am v.v.scared
hope everyone is ok2011- new year, new start.

i haven't had a paid job for a few years and i'm absolutely terrified that i'm going to c*ck it up somehow! i'm also nervous about leaving my ds- in 2 years the most time he has spent away from me is about 4 hours, and i will be out of the house from about 7.45 till 6pm so its a big leap. having said that, i know he will be fine- he will stay with oh for a couple of weeks then go into nursery, and he's such a sociable child i know he'll love it!
not sure how oh is gonna cope though lol
what o/s things do you do? i try and do most things o/s, and i don't know if i will have the time or energy to carry on as i am. most of my baking i do during the day, and im not fancying staying up till midnight just to make sure the family have cookies and bread lol. do you manage to do flylady etc?2011- new year, new start.

Morning all

Congratulations to katiesmummy on getting a job.
Hugs to MoneySavingDiva, PennyPincher, smokey, taplady's husband
I shall give the bathroom & toilets a through clean today, go to the chemist for painkillers for hubby & drop DGS's birthday present round to her.

I was flyladying but after a few weeks I found it a bit much for me. I do still use the basics of what they do but dont post and deff dont beat myself up for doig it a little differently or missing something out but then it is just me and DS so other than toys everywhere I dont have as much to do as some people :rotfl:
As for OS I bake a lot, rely on my SC a lot, love home cooking, do my monthly GC, dont own a car so its shanks pony for me, I study from home, work part time for Mr T (shhhhh dont tel anyone :rotfl:) and one day per week for a local primary school, I bake my own bread and this year I will be growing my own veg and strawbs.
DS goes to nursery 3 full days while I am out and tbh these are the most stressful days where I dont get much done (like to spend what time I can with him before he goes to bed) but once he tucked up in bed I can get on with things like baking, cleaning etc
Dont know if this helps you at all but I have a good structure to my day (or else nothing would get done :rotfl:)
I am sure you will be fine once you get a routine sorted that suits youEmma

Good Morning
Hester :j:j:jto OH's job
Sorry to hear about OH's leg Katiesmummy but congrats on the job.
Very cold here today too, we had a snow shower yesterday and it is still on the ground.
Have had a lie in today - first one for ages, but will be getting my bum into gear in a minute. Mainly washing, ironing and bathrooms today. Kitchen floor is grubby so that will get done too.
Didn't end up having to make my horrible phone call yesterday after all - clients staff member saw sense luckily. However receivied a letter from our client changing their payment structure and its hard to work out at the moment how much worse off we will be. Anyway I am going to put it out of my head this weekend and get on. Have had quite an unproductive week so really want to turn things around for next week.
Simple grilled pork chops for tea tonight.
Have a lovely Saturday.x0
