Very good point. Yes if I were to have problems again it would be SSP only. I think the fact that I can see the end is clouding my judgement. It is not a race to the end but I can see the chequered flag.

Thanks Michelle, I think I will hang on a bit longer. We are overpaying by £400 as it is.

Hope the kids are sound asleep and you can have a well earned rest.

    Day off today.

I have had a leisurely day and not been out. Caught up on the washing. Tomorrow will not be spend free as I am off out for a meal in the evening with 2 friends. It is not the cheapest place but we have always had a lovely meal there. It will cost about £25 each for a main course/pudding and 2 drinks

My mortgage journey has been a balance between overpaying and still enjoying myself. I have not gone without. If I have wanted to buy something, I have including my passion for Ugg boots.

As I keep telling myself and I have needed others to remind me along the way. Being mortgage free is a marathon not a sprint.

    Have a lovely evening.

Glad you thought about it hon. I'd hate to see you post in a few weeks you were short and that was why.

I know myself i am now paying less off the mortgage and trying to save a little more after DH bought his new car as he virtually wiped us out. It is a long slow process on one wage.

In a few months it will not matter for you at all. ;) Keep going.

    Thanks Michelle

Yes I thought about it long and hard. I think I am so close to the end that I just want it over but haven't got the £2300 to finish the job. Even if we stay as we are and continue to overpay the £400 a month, it will all be over by October and I will still have my rainy day fund intact :D I understand what it is like to manage on one salary as we do the same, only it is mine.

    Erm

Today I sent off a lump some overpayment of £1000 to the Britannia. No Michelle don't worry. This is not my rainy day money. I renewed my tax credit claim last week and when I logged on to online banking today. A lump some payment of £618 had been deposited in my account. As it is unexpected money I have used it as an overpayment and rounded it up to £1K. I have yet to receive the paperwork to check but did earn £1k less last year than the year before due to illness.

    I haven't wasted the money.

    My new balance is £1230

Hope you are all having a good day.

    Evening All

Am feeling a bit low today. Had rubbish day at work  At least I am off tomorrow. Good news is that Tax Credit Renewal paperwork came through today and explained the lump sum payment received the other day. We must be one of the few families whose Tax Credits have gone up this year.

Tomorrow must be a better day.

    Have a good one.
