It would have been far more reasonable for someone from The CARPHONE WAREHOUSE TO text or call me to check before cutting me off in the middle of a business trip in the USA

And even more reasonable than that, would be to read your contract before agreeing to it, and informing them you were going abroad and asking your credit limit raised.

There is no helping some customers. They want it both ways all the time.
  • Why am I obviously a Carphone Warehouse employee? I know a bit about mobile contract T&C's, I actually took the time to read mine.

Very true. I have just the same problems. If you do cut them off to save them getting a huge bill its wrong.
If you leave them to it, they then complain that someone should have been monitoring their acc for them and why have they now got a bill for £400 !

There's also the matter of the time difference. We get the high usage reports from the roaming networks first thing in the morning, when its 2 to 3 o'clock in the morning in the US.

So is it a business acc the phones on or a domestic acc being used for business?
    There's a big difference.
  • I get the feeing that CPW can`t win on this occasion,

If they hadn`t cut the OP off, I sense that we would have had a thread titled "CPW let me rack up huge bill, Does this breach my contract"

It was for you own protection, Everytime someone called you, It was costing you money, The 600 minutes have nothing to do with it,

You would have reached the call limit that is set on your account to protect you, Once your bill goes past this, ie: £100 for example, an automatic bar takes effect

Well actually the bill was £37, this being £2 over my limit. A text or call from CPW would have resolved the matter with a simple payment on my credit card. As it happens I was left in the USA with no means of communication and no prior warning, its unreasonable, I have run up phone bills with CPW for several of undreds of pounds in the past and paid on time

Where exactly does it state in my contract that I have to tell you if I'm going abroad. You refer to my reading it and I just have. Where does it also state that in the USA a minute talk time does not actually equate to a minute in the UK. Contracts my friend are written so that people like you and the carphone warehouse can take advantage of people

Do you seriously think the networks have people just sat there monitoring your acc for you?

Of course not, that would be too humane, it has to be automated. Thats the problem not being able to discuss things with another human being. THE COPMUTER SAYS NO!!!

"People like me" being people who have an ounce of common sense?

Do you have any idea how ridiculous you are sounding?

You were wrong, just move on gracefully instead of trying to make cheap shots at people who are correct. It makes you look incredibly stupid.
