Hi I am selling a lot of stuff on ebay and just made a big mistake. I have listed a heavy item as free instead of 'pick up only' there is also an option for parcelfore48 £15.00 but on the listing result it says free. Ebay wont let me edit it as it has bids on it. A long time ago i had a different ebay account which i havent used so i have logged on to that and bid on my item, idea being I win then cancel out transaction between me and well me. Is this allowed? Its probably not but is it something they would clock on to and suspend my account for? I cant afford to let item go as it was bid up to 99p and they person would expect free postage! any help please! I know it was my mistake!

it can be classed as shilling
cancel the listing if it has more than 12 hours to go0 -
2 ways to do this.
1. remove the listing from ebay
http://ebay.about.com/od/sellingeffectivel1/a/se_cancel.htm
couldnt access the ebay page directly from here, but heres how to do it and it tells you what to do.
2. cancel the bids that are on the item then edit the postage costs and continue with listing0 -
Hi thanks for your help, problem is it has 4 hours to go so ebay wont let me cancel it or change it. My fault as i listed it as a one day listing so by the time i noticed the mistake it was too lateLBM 1.11.09

ah well, maybe contact highest bidder and ensure they are aware the postage applies. is the postage mentioned anywhere in the listing? maybe post a link to it?
Worst case you may have to expalin to winning bidder the situ, it happens0 -
But then they might threatening to sue you if they miss out on a bargain!!

Are you sure you cannot cancel the bids? Search for 'cancel bids' on the help pages. I thought you could cancel it and then end it. It has happened to me before because something was close to ending but the seller found a stain on a dress and refused to complete the auction.
I did end up buying it away from eBay (naughty me!!) as the dress was a bit naff and was fancy dress outfit to get worn once so she was happy.0 -
Hi no i have tried everything, i cant cancel bids or End it because of the time left. I have bid on it myself now using another account. They are both named at the same address but in two different names (as in the one selling on in partners, but one i have used to win back is in mine) also different email addresses. I dunno if they will say anything about it but i cant afford to let it go on free postage!LBM 1.11.09

I think if you can't cancel then bidding on it, and as long as you win it (make sure you put a ridiculously high top bid), is fine. You can then cancel the transaction from your selling account after the listings finished to get your FVF back.
I wouldn't count that as shill bidding as your not bidding on it to push the price up so other bidders end up paying more, your bidding on it so it isn't sold to anyone.2009 Wins = £833

It doesn't matter what excuse you use it is a shill bid and if caught all the OPs accounts will be suspended.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Get someone off here to win the item then agree 'not to complete'... as it were.0
