£5 on 2 packs of lean minced beef from M&S for me today. Very reasonable priced I thought too. I'm a bit fussy about meat and would rather eat less of a better quality IYSWIM?
Off to catch up with the 1st 5 pages now :D0 -
Hi everyone :hello:
Another £36.06 spend in total today, have updated sig to reflect this. Was mainly household bits as can't plan too much in the way of meals for next week - am away on a 3 day conference and leaving DH to his own devices!

Hi all, Can I jump into the challenge for the first time with a budget of £180?
I got a shock this week when my friend who has 2 adults and 2 hungry kids managed to spend £110 (plus bread and milk), whilst I have been spending over £50 PER WEEK for 2 adults. This is especially bad when you consider hubby etas out 3 times a week.
So am starting gently this month and see if I can get it down a little each month. My big spend is on soft drinks for myself, as I don't drink tea/coffee and am allergic to sweetners, and can't drink plain water, so constantly on the hunt for something cheap and nice to drink. They are especially good for fresh fruit juice too I buy lots of that. thanks for a new shiny thread girls i think this has to be one of the most inspirational forums on mse especially for habit spenders like me well i came in pennies under budget but to be honest it could have been a good £50-60 under if i werent always bargain hunting i need a new hobby lol but to be honest ive curbed my shopping online to vitually nothing since xmas so this is my next habit to break, what do everyone do with their savings they make monthly ? do they go back in general budget or a treat for family maybe?
Well ive done my main shop for tins cleaning bits etc online with asda which came in at £100 and £21 in iceland so raring to go .. good luck with your budgets everyone.may groc challenge £167/£280...0 -
Just had a delivery from Mr T tonight so have spent £58.77 so far. Was very happy with one of the substitutions as well, ordered a pack of 6 cadbury creme eggs which were on offer for £1.34. They didn't have them so I got a 12 pack instead for the same price
Going to try to meal plan with what I have in now as thats my biggest downfall, I should have enough food to last 2 weeks, with the exception of tops ups for bread, milk etc. So hopefully won't have to do another order until around the 13thGoing to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!
Got married to my lovely hubby on 12/11/2011

Got my first lot of shopping for my first month on the challenge, was a good shop as I had £20 MrT e-vouchers so shop was only £25.77 including months supply of nappies and 2 week of baby milk/food
Going to try and do at least a 2 week meal plan using up the overflowing freezer stuff and just get fresh milk/bread/veg when needed.
Really hoping I am successful!Crazy unorganised mum in need of help!

I posted my results for Jan on the January thread and it was not good!! I came in over budget by £85 .
However I am determined to step up my money saving, have done an inventory of freezers and store cupboards and have menu planned accordingly. So please will you add me in for £300 for this month - this is for myself, DS2 (DS1 has gone back to uni), mum a few times a week and a very fussy cat called Murphy!
I can't help but buy stuff when it's on special at Mr T's - don't know if thats really helpful because it makes me overspend but it is only ever things that I would normally buy. And where I live there is only Tesco, we don't have the luxury of a Lidl or Aldi or Asda anywhere near here so I really envy those who do although as I work full time I don't have the luxury of having the time to shop around either. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it :rotfl:
Oh well, here's to February being a good month for all0 -
Please put me down for £300 for February. I'd like get it down to less but I dont seem to able to manage. It doesn't help that I have to adhere to a gluten free and low fructose diet. I also have to avoid pulses which cuts out a lot of veggie dishes.NSD 0/150

Hi all. I have been following your spends with interest. No-one on this site is as wasteful as i have been - i hope you will keep me on track.
I have started my February spending as my salary has been paid.
I went to the butchers and bought
a ham hock (great with mustard mash & salad)
liver and bacon for casserole
a brisket for slow-roasting and then curry
sausages for a casserole
I am determined to only buy my meat from the butcher in future, but can only get there every two weeks or so.
I also forgot the mince for shepherds pie, so went into Waitrose (£2 voucher and parking fee refunded) and bought that. Also got potatoes, carrots, cabbage, some vine tomatoes and a 12 pack of crisps to take to work.
Butchers shop was £11.03
Waitrose shop was £8.01
This gives me meat for the month with a couple of home-cooked meals for my father, too.
I don't know how long the veggies will last - I have some tinned tomatoes and sweetcorn in the cupboard so may not need much for a couple of weeks - except salad, fruit and milk which I will buy next week. I am not buying any bread until I've finished the pittas in the freezer and the crispbreads in the cupboard.
So have now spent £19.04 of my £160.00 maximum.Sealed Pot challenge 2011 member 1051 - aiming for £365

parsnips are on special at lidls at the mo, i bought two bags, not sure of weight, for 29 p each (about 5 medium parsnips in each) on thursday.
i brought them home, prepped them, parboiled them, mixed in ginger marmalade and butter, s and p, and roasted off what we needed for tea, and the rest have been laid out on trays on clingfilm in the freezer, to be tipped into a freezer bag so they freeflow when i want to cook with them.nov grocery challenge, £.227.69/300, 9/25 nsd: , 7 Cmo, 10 egm.
Me, 10 yo dd, and the dog. all food and drinks, in and out, plus household shopping.0
