  • Hi everyone not signed in since weekend been busy looking after DS1 and GD at their home as they have had a very nasty virus. Spent £2.16 on coffee and Whoopsied bread at co-op where they live(for us) and spent £4.60 on groceries for them .Had a lovely day yesterday treated my mum to the Theatre for her birthday and she treated me out for a meal. It was lovely spending time with her. I can't wait till friday DS2 gets paid hurray!! He keeps 'borrowing' £2.00 I keep talking to him about budgetting (listen to me!) I think the penny is slowly dropping it used to be £10. At least he now asks me 'can I have', from the freezer/fridge instead of raiding it, just have to work on DS3 now but at 13 years and at 6foot it's fighting a losing battle. I don't know about anyone else but sometimes I feel like a real moaning mum and I keep reminding the DS's this budgetting and saving is for all our sake. I think I shall have to update next months amount to £180 never mind it's still a lot less than I used to spend. Keep on saving and smiling eveyone!

    Total grocery amount £218.17/£160
    M&S 2,200.00

  • Hiya everyone just checking in to update total. Another £58.15 to add after Mr T shop yesterday. I'm about £15 down on what I spent by this time last month so I am happy that it's going down gradually.

I have a chilli in the SC at the moment, hoping there is enough there for lunch tomorrow or to freeze for another time, but you never know with OH's appetite

    may groc challenge £167/£280...
  • A rather large shop at Mr A yesterday has taken me over this months budget. Most of what I bought though will be used next month so don't feel too bad as March's spends should be down.

Signature updated with new totals. Will have to watch I don't go mad with the spends for the next week. Can see a few NSDs in my future

Have just added up all my receipts for the month and I'm dangerously close to my budget! However have plenty in so there's no reason why I can't do it. I could prob get away with just milk, bread & F&V if I plan ahead.

Was thinking of doing my first ever online shop for March. I live so close to tesco it's ridiculous, however, since my car broke (or I broke it!:o) I've not been able to get to asda which is about 10 miles away. I've no idea where to start but as I'm not working today I think I'll have a look at last months receipts and see exactly what I've bought. Any hints to get me going would be gladly received.

    Have a good day everyone

hi, i'd suggest doing your shopping on mysupermarket.com to see where is cheaper to shop from. If you haven't done an online shop from tesco before there is a code for £10 off your first £50 shop at the mo (code number on this site i think). also, if you're registered with quidco (i think - can someone please advise) if you do the order with sainsburys through them you get some more money off??

    good luck

Well I have crashed and burned spectacularly now! Decided that my O*ado shop couldn't wait another week, so have ordered a delivery for tomorrow, amounting to £92.69!!! Still, it does mean that the pantry will be stocked right up with baking ingredients (my 'thing' of the moment) so maybe March will be a little more frugal! At least I'm heading towards making more things myself, so that's a step in the right direction!

Keep up the good work everyone, nearly there!! :D

    Hi everyone,

I haven't posted for ages but have now caught up on the thread. Haven't been around much this week due to work and DH is off for half-term so we've been out and about. Can categorically state that this month is a disaster zone. Am currently £111 over my budget - beat that!!!

Combination of many things. Both DS's had birthdays, which meant birthday teas to cater for - may consider a seperate budget for birthdays as someone kindly suggested. DH eats loads when he's at home, and the mealplan this week has gone out the window. DS1 had a friend over on Tuesday and BIL came for dinner tonight, so have had to jiggle some things around.

Had a bit of a splurge in MrT last Saturday as we hadn't bought yoghurts (or anything pudding/treatwise) since the new year. Ended up spending just over £40 on bits a bobs, including said treats, crisps, some beers for DH etc. Amazing how these bits mount up. Was very PMTish last week, and just wanted to eat utter carp. Anyway have now given up chocolate for lent, so hoping for less of these random shopping expeditions!

My Feb GC ends on Sunday and we have enough in the ways of meals. Will just need some veg for the weekend.

Roll on March's GC - a clean slate to work from.

Keep going everyone, you are doing great.

  • NSD for me today, haven't even left the house!

Had a friend round for lunch and dinner, and dinner was a sausage casserole, didn't use more sausages, just shoved in the mushrooms that were lurking at the back of the fridge to pad it out!

Still hoping to make this month's gc, got to last until the 22nd!

45p spent on a packet of crisps at work today as I was hungry. I'll be taking a sandwich tomorrow to avoid this again! :p
