It's disorganisation on my part. I write a list and promptly lose it as soon as I'm in the supermarket
Hi, see you have mentioned oxtail stew. Whenever I have tried to make it , it always comes out greasy, what am I doing wrong:o

Went to Sainsburys at lunchtime as needed some noodles for tonights dinner. £2.00 on 2 packs of noodles, there's 6 blocks in each so works out quite cheap. Also bought some bananas, a bottle of squash for work and a packet of biscuits for one of the girls at work. I nearly spent another £1 on a packet of crisps, but after picking them up and walking round the shop, I put them back again!
I shouldn't need anything else next week except milk, a bag of potatoes (but this is to make wedges to go in the freezer for further meals) and a tv guide. We'll see...! I think £60.00 was a better aim this month as it helps when I see things on offer.
I did my meal plan for March last night so will sit and go through all the recipes tonight/over the weekend, make a list of what I need and get a rough idea of what I need to spend.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Now declaring at £7.85 over target so far! I stupidly decided to go to Mr S's with the kids as my OH's Mum had given me a voucher for £7 off a £45 spend. If I had kept it to the £45 with £7 off and spent no more I would still be within target but now feling a bit fed up with myself. First of all I picked up the wrong size baby bells - small bag of 6 currently on offer for £1 and mistakenly I picked up a bag of 12 which cost £2.88! Secondly the kids were driving me so mad with their behaviour that I couldn't keep track in my mind of what the total was. Honestly, I was so fed up with the pair of them. In my opinion they are generally quite well behaved but take them supermarket shopping and they start behaving like 2 year olds and running up and down the isles and they are 10 & 8!
My stress was increased further to find OH throwing out quite a bit of food from the garage tonight after he discovered mouse droppings & chewed bags of pasta & cereal. Aaargh!Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0 -
I went to tesco today, but not sure what i spent as i bought some clothes and other stuff which doesn't come from my gc budget. Will work it out and post it later.
Made a really nice (and simple!) fish pie for dinner tonight, just poached fish, peas/sweetcorn/both, bit of parsley sauce on top, then mashed potato to top it off! Although generally my family aren't fussy eaters, my dd and ds like sweetcorn, whereas bf and i don't, and we were feeding my mum too, so i ended up making four individual pies. No more hassle than a big one, in fact less, as i didn't even bother taking them out of the dishes to serve! That way, dd and ds (who shared one as they are 3 and 4) had peas and sweetcorn, as did mum, and we just had peas. Nice, simple, homecooked food, not too much time to prep. That's my kind of dinner!!
PG xGrocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries. Jan £87.97/£100 Feb £0/£100

Can I ask, is this just for you?? If so, I'd love to know how you get down to this. My budget is double this at the mo. But I suppose it depends on what you include. My name is CherryPie and I'm addicted to grocery shopping!!
