Finally caught up on 12 pages of posts. I really must log in every day otherwise I get too far behind.

Had 3 consecutive NSDs and may be heading for a 4th! DS off school sick so probably won't get out at all today. I am working at home so no leave used up. Do need some milk so may have to wait for DD to get home from work and pop out then. We'll see as I do have uht in the cupboard and coffee whitener so could manage if she doesn't have cereal tonight.

Congratulations to Ragz and a big hello to the newest OSer. Welcome to the world Abigail xx

Yesterday made Chinese Style Pork in the slow cooker

Is there a recipe for that on here? Sounds like something I would enjoy, plus it's slow-cooker-tastic!!! Working all day, the slow cooker has to be one of my favourite inventions for still being able to do home-cooked food!

With regard to the vouchers, I would use maybe £30 of them per month, and then use the money I would've saved to have a takeaway, or day out somewhere, which effectively means that your boss has paid for you to go out with the family! This way, you can enjoy and appreciate doing something that you wouldn't have been able to do otherwise.

I managed to keep yesterday as a NSD after all :D

Popped out today though - spent just under £20 between the Co-op, Mr S and B&M on milk, bread, pop, sauce and sausages - all either reduced or on offer - sounds a lot for what I got, but it means I shouldn't need to shop again until Monday (hopefully Tuesday).

Also, I now have a month's worth of fizzy stuff (we only open a bottle or two a week as a treat) so no more temptations when I'm in B&M - as it was, I came out with a lightshade for DS2&3's room, another seedling propagator, 3 sports bottles and some easter chocs that werent on my list today - but they're different budgets, so at least they didn't affect the GC :o

  • I'm relatively new to MSE, am on a DMP with CCCS so am trying to keep my monthly outgoings to a minimum.

I'm going to say £200 for the month based on 2 adults.

We used to spend more than this (shocking i know) so it's a start- will be less next month!

I'VE DONE IT! this is terribly exciting. I've made a great big stock pot full of mince and onions with added lentils and pearl barley. Put some in a dish, added a stock cube ,seasoning, chopped carrot and sliced potato on top. we are having it later for dinner with a bread and butter pudding made from left over bread crusts from making sandwiches for work. the sandwiches have cost 20p each. yahoooooo. the mince mix cost £5.50 [got a massive sack of onions for £1 ---- used a few of those, the mince 800gms £4 - the rest the lentils and barley.] theres loads of dinners there I reckon about 2 doz portions. The B&B pud is waste +2 eggs and the milk, sugar,a handful of sultanas and some cinnamon I reckon around 50p

Hi Savvy - I have a weetabix cake (and weetabix brownies!) in the oven too (got the recipes from this website earlier today!)

Spent £5.50 on the ingredients though :( So will need to add that to my total (plus another spend day :( ) On the plus side - yummy cake and brownies for oh and kids (I will not eat any, of course ;) )

ETA - just got brownies out of oven - mmmmmmmmmmmmm :)
