  • Hi,
Can i join again this month with a budget of 200 please. This is for 2 adults 2 kids and an array of animals including a new puppy who eats like a dustbin and several people who ' just drop in ' Conveniently around tea time .
I did join January's challenge but unfortunately it all went tit's up. I had to have my beloved 14 yr old dog down and we were all really distraught though i don't think we came in too much over budget we didn't really tally it up either.
So time to start again and fingers crossed for a disaster free month.
My budget starts today and I've been through the freezer and meal planned for the next week. Just had roast chicken dinner and in true old style fashion i now have a chicken and veg curry in one slow cooker and chicken and sweetcorn soup in the other.
Good luck with your budgets everyone :D

  • Well we have been to Mr S/ Mr M and Mr T and came in at 101.54 which is a big dent in budget but we have enough cheese for month. enough breadflour for month.enough coffee for month.
we have guests at weekend so I guess another dent but will try to plan something filling for 6 guests which 2 are veggies.

Spent last hour writing my ingoing out goings in my journal I bought specially so I can chart month by month how we are doing and where we wasted money etc.We are inspired by this and any money left in bank at end of month goes into savings account. We have a misc page so we can see what we spent money on.

We are stocked to gills with fruit and veg...yum yum yum
Hubby wanted a pack blueberry muffins in MR T 4 for £ seemed good deal...BUT 370 cals per muffin!!! told hubby thats his lunch!!

    Hi everyone,
Please could you put me down for £100.00 for Feb.
I failed miserably in the challenge for Jan. Lots of unexpected spends but that is no excuse. I must make a concerted effort in Feb. I had 21 NSD in Jan. so didnt even have the pleasure of shopping. We were snowed in for a while so decided on Mr Ts home delivery.
I will post every day in Feb. it will make me think twice before spending.
Good luck everyone for this month.
ps. my husband was just looking over my shoulder and said if I spend that much in Feb. he will personally "put me down full stop"

Can I ask do you guys include take-away spends in your totals?

People on here include different things in their budget, basically it's up to yourself. I don't include takeaways as they don't come out of our joint account ie either I pay for then of OH does on the rare occasions we have any.

Welcome to the challenge, you will get lots of support here and ideas.

Very pleased with the weekly shop today although only had 4 items on the list for Aldi and managed to buy 12 :o, however justified as stockpiling :D.

Lots of chinese stuff in Aldi, stir-fry sauces 69p, coconut milk 47p, sesame and other chinese oils and loads more at good prices - I assume promotion for Chinese New Year coming up.

Gave in and let OH buy some ice cream as there is now room in the freezer (can you tell I don't eat it!). Total in there £14.14.

£5.33 in Morrisons which included reduced bread and samosas and a litre of malt vinegar to do my pickled beetroot.

Away to make lasagne from Rhodes across Italy and red pepper & tomato soup with blue cheese to use up stuff left over from last Sunday.
Could I have the recipe for red pepper and tomato soup please
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
