To simplify things, I've decided to draw £450 in cash cos I find it easier than using cards and remembering to write everything down. I'm also going to try for 5 No Spend Days (I know that's low but I don't want to commit to too many on my first one). Right, I'm off to make a list of what's in the fridge, freezer & store cupboard and plan my meals for the coming week. Good luck everyone!
OOooh that's a great idea about drawing out money for your grocery challenge!! I might try that. I buy my special cat food online, but apart from that I think I might give your idea a go.
Good luck for March!February GC £150/£137.84:A
March GC £150/£36.400 -
This week must go down as my cheapest weekly shop since I started this challenge :rotfl:£18.99 between Mr M and A*di. No extras - stuck to my list faithfully.
Have been doing well using up freezer stuff and trying not to put too much back in....:)
Bought 2 of the 30p bags of Rooster potatoes in Mr M as OH likes them for chips, so with the tatties already in got enough to do for a month I think.
Only meat bought was Scottish beef mince, 700g for £2.59 in A*di which I have bought before and it's good. Will do a batch of lasagne and cottage pie with that. Otherwise meals will be from stuff in freezer for the rest of the week.
Will adjust my total in the new thread.0 -
Pooh bear do you have a recipe for the spicy bean stew that sounds lovely
It is based on the one in the recipe list on here but I add leeks, potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, cooked chick peas, lentils, enough stock to cover everything and chilli powder and seasoning to my slow cooker and leave on for about 3-4 hours. Serve with crusty home made bread. Yum!
I am a bung it in a see sort of cook!business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

I'd like to declare £286.62 for Feb
. I've been quite good this month sticking to my shopping list. The freezer is still quite full. I've been using what's in the fridge which at times has looked quite bare but I'm manage to avoid a huge shop and think the small and medium shops could be working for me. A big thing for me is that I've stayed out of my big Tesco Extra, I always go over budget when I end up in there! I've been popping in Mr M's, ALdi and Sainsbugs and getting the offers I need rather than chucking anything in the trolley like when I shop at Tesco
. Looking forward to a shiny new budget

I'm 2 days into my March budget and have already spent £58.20 of my £200 budget
Some of that was on bits and pieces for my mam ( a card for £1.49, 2 tins of dog food £1.18 and a bar of choc to cheer her up as she's not been well £1.25 ) but really that doesn't count for much of it!
I'm going to go through my food and meal plan, I think I bought enough food to cover at least 10 meals, bought a gammon joint for sandwichs whilst at work next week, cereal for OH for the next 2 weeks ( although have just remembered I need milk! ) I have crumpets, cereal and bread ( for toast ) for me for brekkie. Also have loads of things lurking in the freezer ( fish fingers, leftover beef casserole, soup, chicken breasts, turkey breasts, battered fish, southern fried chicken, potato wedges, 2 beef joints, 1 duck crown ) and thats only things I can remember so really I've probably got enough food in for a good 3 weeks if not longer, with the exception of top ups for bread, milk etc Although I know what I'm liking and will inevitably go shopping again next weekend regardless of whether I need to go or not. Really need to get out of this habit, I just really enjoy food shopping for some bizarre reason!Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!
Got married to my lovely hubby on 12/11/2011

Abysmal!
Can I declare £404 for me this month!
Don't know what went wrong but I think it was misguided bulk-buying before i went in for an operation last thursday. Anyway will try harder next month....:o0 -
Hi everyone
I was doing really well with this challenge until May 09, then the credit crunch started to really bite and DD lost her flat. DD + partner + twin DGDs moved in with us, and what with moving a flat full of furniture into our house  and more people to organise, something had to go.
Now DD and the twins have moved to a house close by - much cheaper than a big city flat, and we are on our own again...ish.
So Mrs M please put me down for £250 for March, and I'll try for 15 NSDs as well.
I worked on this for Feb although I didn't join and had just £1.38 remaining
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:which will form the beginning of a stockpile fund (very small LOL)
Good luck to everyone, I'll be back regularly as I know from experience that you all help keep me on track.Dor0
