Thanks Rosieben for the recipe list:T.

Does anyone know if this wonderful sounding recipe courtesy of angelnikki can be made in the BM please?

    Cheese and Potato Bread

    225g / 8oz plain flour
    1 tsp salt
    ½ tsp mustard powder (optional)
    2 tsp baking powder
    125g / 4 ½ oz grated cheese
175g / 6oz potatoes, cooked & mashed (you can use instant potato instead)
    200ml / 7 fl oz water
    1 tbsp oil

Sieve the flour, salt, mustard powder (if using) and baking powder into a bowl.
Reserve 2 tbsp of the cheese, and stir the rest into the bowl with the cooked & mashed potatoes.
Pour in the water and oil, (the mixture will be wet at this stage) and stir to form a soft dough.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into a 20cm round.
Place on a greased/lined baking tray and mark it into 4 portions with a knife, without cutting through.
Sprinkle with the reserved cheese, then bake 220C / Gas 7 for 25-30 mins.

Variation: Add 50g chopped ham with the cheese.

Obviously wouldn't be round but would still probably taste as good and mouth watering as my imagination is making it!

£250 for March please for two adults and one ancient pooch on a very specialized (read: expensive) diet (including 1/3 of her diet costs in) including all grocery/cleaning/paper products.

Well I am literally just pence away from my total, but I have everything!

Spent 35p on Thursday as had a hospital appointment and needed to get some change for the machine. Turns out the car parks were all full anyway, so had to go elsewhere.

I went out with my brother today and got some bits I needed. Sandwich bags (lots!) and some body spray as well as a giant kitchen roll in town. Went to Morrisons and got some cooking oil, carrots and tv guide (on list) and some apples, bag of salad (on their 30p offer) and a box of cup a soups (not on list). The apples and soup will do for lunches in the week.

I have a lot of what I need for meals next month, but I am going to stick with £60.00 for March as know that I need washing powder/tablets and some toiletries which i'll stock up on next weekend with Asda's 4 for £3 offers.

    Hello all,

Spent £296.58 last month so aiming at £280.00 for this month, I work on a 4 week basis so my month will start today 31st Jan and finish 28th Feb

    So Far, £319.83

    Stopped counting  :D

Worst month ever, I'm guessing about £350.00 which is stupid for two adults.

I can't even decide wether its good or bad that we don't throw anything away either :D

Thanks for that recipe - I don't have a BM but am going to have a go at making this - it sounds very delish!

    Hi all :)

Not declaring yet until tomorrow night - and I need a few things so will buy then. Thanks MrsMc for adding me to the list for March.
Can't believe how many NSD I have managed and added today as I was working a late shift.
Next month may be tougher but I am amazed at how little I can spend if I put my mind to it!

What does everyone do with the extra money if you have come under budget - obviously it means more in the bank - but am thinking I might use it to overpay the mortgage - not sure but what do you think?

Good luck to everyone for March - Keep up the good work. :j

    New one here

Mrs M please can you add me to the list for March - I'm going to try for £150

    Thanks

  • First and hopefully last big spend for March. £53.93. This seems like loads considering my budget of £110, but I did a bit of stocking up as Old Mother Hubbard would have been proud of my empty fridge/freezer/cupboards. I think I'll run it down every few months, it certainly makes for some interesting meal combinations!

I include all toiletries, alcohol etc basically anything that comes out of the supermarket, goes into my GC.

Going to make spicy bean stew tomorrow in the SC as it looks scrummy. Only, didn't add the ingredients to my list, so no NSD for me 2mo. :o

    Have a good weekend everyone.

Glad you're finding the recipe list useful Spiggle.

I'm assuming you'd need to let the dough mix and then add the cheese and potato? so thats a definite maybe from me :o

I don't have a bm anymore; hopefully someone with more bm experience will be along to give you a sensible answer :D
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D
