Well got paid today so my new grocery month starts today. Popped to the butcher van at the market today and got quiet a bit of stuff, gammon joint, beef joint, 2lb chicken breasts, 1lb sausages, bacon, garlic sausage, pork steak - £23 so quiet a few meals sorted out of that little lot. Plan is to go to the market stall in the nearby town tomorrow and check the prices and quality, if its good it will be a weekly event. Then off to Sainsbury's as have a £8 off a £40 voucher. We have a farm foods shop so may have nosey in there too.

    So will update sig.

Did I say something about only spending another tenner before Sunday night?? Make that £16.38 before 9.30 this morning!:wall:
I just seemed to run out of a lot of stuff today, bread, fruit, milk, cheese, sausages, salad stuff and I got some on offer Sugarpuffs for the kids.
So no more rash predictions - I'll declare on Sunday night.
Please could you put me down for £420 for March please Mrs M and many thanks for running this thread - it keeps me in check!

On the plus side T*sco have just sent me a code for £7.50 which I'll use in my first March delivery on Tuesday - a good start to March!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.
  • I was soooo tempted to go into Asda today. The children were at the childminders, and I finished work early, but couldn't pick them up as they were having birthday cake for snack as my daughter is 5 on Monday. [How did that happen?!] Means I've been single for 3 years now!

I really wanted to go and have a mooch, but resisted all temptation, and instead went and had cake with them!!

Which means... ... ... only 1 shopping day so far this month, out of 4! This may not sound like an achievement to some, but to me it's a huge breakthrough!!

Did a massive sc full of bolognese last night, just split it into pots ready for the freezer. With adding some lentils, pearl barley and other bits and bobs, I've managed to create enough bol to feed my 2 15 times! (They are only 3 and 4/5.) I was quite impressed with that, and there's loads of veg in there too, but grated so they don't notice so much!

Was really tired after work today, so needed a 20-mins-in-the-oven dinner.:o We had chicken kievs (50p in Asda last year) and chips. Garlicky breath - yum!

    Have a good evening all,

Haven't checked in since 21st - and, as I did my 'announced' shop after I posted, I suppose I should really have been back since then ;)

Total spend on 21st came to £3.50 across 3 stores - for this I got 4pt milk, loaf of bread, 2.5kg spuds, a four cheese pasta sauce (whoopsied to 25p from £1.39), a box of meringue nests and a pack of raspberry flapjack fingers

Since 21st I haven't spent a single penny on food - everything used has been stuff from the house :D

As such my budget is looking in a brilliant condition, and so far this month I've had 18 NSDs with regards to groceries :T

    Hi everyone,

MrsM - please put me down for £400 in March - thank you.

Had a delivery from MrT on Tuesday £123.07, spent £3.50 in MrM on Wednesday and spent £6.41 in MrS yesterday.

Have everything we need main meal-wise for the month, except for 3 days. Will need to get F&V and bread tho'.

Has anyone tried the 'milk in a bag' that you put in a jug, instead of getting cartons? I use the milkman and use glass bottles, but it's 58p/pint and every penny counts at the moment.

    Off to update sig.
