We're planting all our own veg and fruit, plus we've set up a series of compost bins to take care of any kitchen waste -- though there shouldn't be much, as we're planning all our meals around whatever will be harvestable each week (salads, vegetables, and fruit). We're planting everything in series, so we should have harvests of one kind or another from April through October and then there will be the winter veg / squash / etc. We're also planting plenty of flowers to dress the house, so no more spending money on florist flowers. Plus, we've planted more trees and shrubs to absorb co2 - and we participated in Tree O'clock last autumn (bbc).:T0

I am wearing 2 jumpers at home and keeping the heating turned down.
I am using the drying area of my block of flats to grow some veg.
I am using the bottom half of old plastic milk cartons as plant pots to grow herbs on my kitchen window sill.
I have invested in a retractable clothes line so I can dry clothes in my bathroom when the weather is too cold to dry them outside, rather than opt to use my tumble drier.
I am stocking up on bulk purchases of food with a long shelf life that are on special offer.
I am going to buy a bike rather than take the bus.0 -
We are going to continue practising living simply, with integrity, raising our consciousness and watching our lives unfold in a more sustainable way of being.
In other words, we have set the intention to;
:j only buy what we need not what we desire
:j buy with awareness of the effect of that consumption on the planet as a whole
:j start a vegetable and herb garden
:j live in a way that keeps us healthy
:j generally be aware of what serves life rather than diminishes it.
:j thinking outside the box
Wonderful year to all brothers and sisters x0 -
I am going to stop taking hot showers every day and instead I am going to take a shower a couple of times per week and the rest of the times I am going to wash myself in bits with a flannel and some lukewarm water. Also, when I have a shower I shall stand in a basin so I can use the water to flush the loo (already do this sometimes when I remember, but committing to do it for every shower now!).
Totally agree Caterina! Daily showers and in fact soap and shampoo etc all unnecessary...the key seems to be a healthy diet with lots of delicious use of fenugreek seeds...out of box thinking amazing..0 -
