My New Years Resolution is to buy nothing new in 2010. I'm allowing myself food, cleaning and health products, but other than that it's all second hand, pre-loved, mending, fixing and making for me!0
-
I'm going to buy less and waste less0

I already grow my own veg, recycle and do as much as i can to reduce my carbon footprint and I have signed up this year to my companies PACT scheme (Personal Carbon Tracking Scheme). I am also helping my daughters school to save energy in conjunction with the eco schools project. We already have put in heat reflecting radiator panels and had the school thermally imaged. It is so exciting!0

This is what I already do:
I switch off lights when not in use; walk or cycle when possible; recycle glass, paper, metal, etc; limit the time and temperature for the central heating; avoid buying over-packaged goods.
I intend to do more of these things plus grow some of my own vegetables and I am trying to find some more ideas, so that I make a better contribution.
A copy of the Economical Environmentalist surely will give me some ideas0 -
I'm going to make sure I don't leave heating on when I'm out of the house.0
-
I'm going to change my gas boiler and utilities to energy saving ones - when I move to my new house0
-
I'm going to be more efficient with using heating - putting panels behind the radiators, wearing more layers - generally trying to use the central heating less - environmental and cost-effective!

Remember the MoneySaving mantras!
IF YOU'RE SKINT......
Do I need it? Can I afford it? Can I find it cheaper anywhere else?
IF YOU'RE NOT SKINT......
Will I use it? Is it worth it? Can I find it cheaper anywhere else?0 -
We have 4 chickens who have the free run of our garden, not ideal if you like your garden green after 4 months though. The eggs are delicious, the quality of the soil is improving with all the poop and they are a joy to watch!:oAmanda

I am going to stop taking hot showers every day and instead I am going to take a shower a couple of times per week and the rest of the times I am going to wash myself in bits with a flannel and some lukewarm water. Also, when I have a shower I shall stand in a basin so I can use the water to flush the loo (already do this sometimes when I remember, but committing to do it for every shower now!).Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
