  • I am goingg to grow more on my allotment drive slower and fit solar voltaic cells to add to my solar heating panels! will try and walk more and use the car less, but am lazy!!
  • I am determined to cut the carbon emissions in my laboratory of cell biology and I am pursuing this with the help of my colleagues. At home, my husband and I have become the happy owners of two allotments in Ilford. Started to grow our first organic fruit trees.

I am going to finish rebuilding our house, the new walls will be superinsulated (unlike the old one which had virtually no insulation) so we will dramatically reduce our comsumption of energy used to heat the building. Also we are looking at Solar water heating (DIY style!)

I'm going to grow more, buy less, walk more and recycle more. Hopefully will be a bit richer - and thinner - as well as improving carbon footprint!

I will be doing a weekly meal plan and not wasting any food and shopping at the farm shop (much cheaper for fruit and veg).
  • The economical environmentalist sounds a great book as a lot of carbon saving projects cost loads! This year I am growing ALL my own veg and fruit, going to work on thew bus instead of the car, and am re-roofing the house
(the old felt is in tatters so it will make the house more energy efficient). I have 10" of insulation already.
  • We have recently purchased a pressure cooker, so will save time, energy and not to mention money. We try to recycle as much as we possibly can, and we are proud of our compost. We have been composting for nearly 6 years now, which produces amazing compost for the garden.

  • I will get to grips with the garden and grow vegetables. But more than that, this year it will be better planned so what is grown is not wasted!
  • I am going to spend my 20yr award on a bike and stop driving my car so much. Even if I just do the short trips it should save 5 miles a week.
