Sorry to butt in with an off-topic request, but do you have a recipe for this? It sounds delish!

Not particularly surprisingly, it's a BBC Good Food recipe (as most of my favourites are) - it's this one. (The recipe has frozen peas, but I thought I'd be different this time and use tinned chickpeas instead.)

I've made this several times and it's really very yum indeed! :D

The naan breads are from a separate recipe, which I posted for someone last week (or possibly the week before - I've lost track!) - I can dig that out if you're interested, too.
Back after a very long break!
  • Hi Newlywed

This is the Sicilian Fish Stew off the bbc good food web-site.

    Ingredients

    olive oil
1 onion , halved and finely sliced
2 celery stalks, sliced (i will probably use extra onion & maybe some courgette as we don't like celery - but I did notice that aldi has celery in its super 6 this week!)
    3 garlic cloves , sliced
    1 anchovy , rinsed (optional)
    a pinch chilli flakes
2 plum tomatoes , diced (aldi have tomatoes on super 6 too!)
    125ml white wine
    400ml vegetable stock
    50g couscous
250g white fish fillet, from a sustainable source
    ½ lemon , zested
    a handful chopped parsley

Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a wide, shallow pan. Add the onion, celery, garlic, anchovy (if using) and chilli flakes. Season and cook for 10 minutes. Add the tomatoes and cook for another couple of minutes. Pour in the wine and stock and bring to a boil. Cook for 2 minutes then add the couscous. Turn down to a simmer and add the fish. Cover with a lid and cook until the fish is done, about 5-7 minutes.
Divide between 2 dishes, breaking the fish into large pieces. Sprinkle over lemon zest and parsley to finish.

This is for 2 people (easily doubled).

I imagine that you could omit the cous cous and cook some rice seperately to serve with it if you prefer.

Will let you know how it turns out...

Thanks for that, it looks just like the kinda thing OH and I would enjoy for dinner one night. Luckily OH is a bit of an expert naan-maker so already got that covered :)

Hi everyone, didnt do too badly this week, although ended up having 3 days of dinners from a roast shoulder of pork that we hadn't planned on getting, but we couldn't resist it, so some things have been left out/shunted off to do battle another day!

The plan for the following week (am including from friday this week as it has all changed!)
Fri-chorizo, haddock and new potato stew with carrots (new recipe, OH cooking :))
Sa-lamb chops, with celeriac and beetroot dauphinoise, saute potatoes (dauphinoise is new recipe, may use blue cheese instead of gruyere as I have that in)
Su-tender duck legs with turnips roast spuds and cabbage
Mo-Norwegian fish pie (economy gastronomy-basically a tuna pasta bake I reckon)
Tu-Ribs and beans (econ gast recipe-left overs in freezer) with baked spuds and corn on the cob
We-cod wrapped in bacon (Jamie oliver-ministry of food-new recipe) roast spuds and veg
Th-Chianti baked meatballs with pasta and salad (this is an old favourite-very yummy indeed)
    Fr-Chilli with baked potatoes
    Sa-sausage casserole, mash and veg
Su-Roast Chicken with squash and veg this is a fab recipe and the leftover roasted veg makes the most fantastic soup! But I think may actually roast a bit of pork (have a hand of pork in freezer, but if see a fab FR chicken may go for that :)

This is one of my own creations so there's no real recipe - it tends to vary every time I make it depending what I have in the cupboard.

It's basically: roughly chop some chorizo and fry in a hot pan until crispy - you won't need any oil as it gives out loads. Take the chorizo out of the pan and use the oil to fry a chopped onion, sometimes some chopped red/green pepper, a chopped garlic clove, and a generous sprinkling of smoked paprika. When the veggies are soft add either a tin of tomatoes or a similar quantity of passata, the cooked chorizo and some tinned chickpeas, bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes or so until the veg is cooked.

The quantities are very vague as I sometimes make enough for one meal, and sometimes enough to have the rest the next day or to freeze some (and I don't really do measuring anyway, tbh :o).

Is that any help at all?
