Hi all
I can't believe that it's almost February already - where did January go  I have been reading the monthly meal planning with interest this week and would love to do it but I don't have a very big freezer. It's one of my aims for this year
Anyhoo we are having this week:
Monday - Chicken & Veg Curry with Rice & HM flatbreads
Tuesday - Falafel Burgers, Wedges & Beans and Birthday Cake (It's DH's)
Wednesday - Quiche & Winter Salad or Beans on Toast for Quiche haters :rotfl:
Thursday - Pasta Bake
Friday - Meatballs & Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce
Saturday - Spicy Lentil Soup & HM Soda Bread followed by Fruit Jelly & Ice Cream
Sunday - Lunch: Gammon, Roast Potatoes, Carrots, Brocolli, Yorkshire
Puds and gravy
Tea: Cheese, Fruit & Crackers followed by Trifle
I make porridge, beans on toast, pancakes, eggs or toast for breakfast and lunches are soup, sandwiches, leftovers, pate & toast.
Snacks this week will be Twinks Hobnobs, Weetabix Cake and I'll make some cupcakes too.
Have a good week everyone :T

Yippeeeee I am back!! My GC and meal planning went out the window due to DS nursery having to relocate for 3 wks (meaning pack lunches needing supplied and us living between here and my folks as it considerable nearer the nursery). Plus side being that all but 3 of my meals have been cooked for me

Think thats it for us
Have a good week y'all :rotfl:Emma

Thank you for starting the thread, SunnyGirl.
Once again I didn't finish using my weekly plan so I have 3 meals planned from last week. Went to a pub quiz one night and had the served buffet for my meal (rather greasy pizza slices but, hey, saved a meal) and then I saw sprats quite cheap in Morrisons so bought 50p. worth & that did me for 2 evenings.
Breakfasts: mostly oats soaked in milk & blackberry juice with blackberries, will probably also have a poached egg on toast one day & kippers another.
Lunch: unplanned leftovers, soup from freezer, brown rice salad
Sat: spiced chicken with lentils, br. rice
Sun: liver & onions, green beans, mash
Mon: poached salmon, new potatoes, stewed leeks
Tue: braised brisket, carrots, parsnip, broccoli leaves(used as cabbage), Yorkies, roast
Wed: leek & bacon quiche, coleslaw
Thu: Brisket again with same accompaniments
Fri: sausage casserole with carrots, onions, celery, baked potato0 -

Due to other interesting threads, I am starting to think about shopping/menu planning in a fortnightly mode - would like monthly, but best start with baby steps. Hoping to spend some time this weekend mulling it over on paper and see what disadvantages there would be, my main hurdle will be storage space so.......0 -
Thanks for starting us off, SunnyGirl.
I've been hyper-organised (by my standards) and planned for the next two weeks - like a lot of you I've been looking at the monthly meal planning thread but I think that's considerably beyond my (sadly limited) organisational skills!
Anyway, my next week goes:
Friday - chickpea, tomato and chorizo stew, possibly with garlic bread if I'm very hungry
Saturday - cherry tomato, goat's cheese and chorizo calzone, with some sort of salad
Sunday - oven baked leek and goat's cheese risotto
Monday - egg and chickpea curry with HM naan bread (as I never did get round to making them last time I mentioned it)
Tuesday - pasta with king prawns, chorizo and cherry tomatoes
Wednesday - ham-wrapped leeks in cheese sauce, with HM bread to mop up the sauce (nomnomnom!)
Thursday - evening class day: lunch - bacon and bean layer bake (frozen leftovers from last week's mealplan); dinner - ham and cheese omelette and veg of some sort
I had intended to make a lemon and kiwi cheesecake this weekend but, having stepped on the scales this morning, that plan's cancelled.
Snacks will be fresh fruit instead (including kiwis as I've got loads), lunches will be sandwiches and HM soup (probably curried parsnip after a discussion on this subject earlier in the week), and breakfasts will be my usual porridge / cereal / HM bread.Back after a very long break!0 -

Hi All
OH wants to loose some weight on the run up to the Wedding (May 29th) (he's not overweight as such, still in the band of healthy, but on the high side of healthy!!!); so trying to include fish twice a week and poultry twice a week - will be making small changes to higher fat dishes to reduce calories...the pies are the last ones in the freezer, so probably won't have any more till next autumn now.
Thurs: Chicken & Mushroom Omlette (OH fending for his self - probably omlette).
Fri: Eating Out - treat as knew was going to have a bad day
Sat: Fish Stew & Rice (My new recipe for the week) - just noticed its got cous cous in it - will prob serve with a bit of crusty bread
Sun: Eat at OH's parents
Mon: Salmon with Dill & Cream Sauce (using half fat creme fraiche and swapping half the butter for olive oil), Broccoli & Pasta
Tues: Turkey Lasagne & Salad
Wed: Braised Beef, Yorkies, Roast Pots & Veg (reducing the amount of roast potatoes and always cook in olive oil anyway).
Have a good week all.
