Claire, I've just had the financial assessment. My contribution's come out at £35 a week (which would be a struggle anyway). The direct payments is minimum wage for 5 hours a week, so comes to less than £35 so I'd have to pay for it all with no help. But to do that I'd have to pay an agency, which is about £15 an hour, and I can't afford £75 a week.
But all is not lost, I've finally arranged for a carer, which knocks £12 a week off the £35, and having read the guidelines again I forgot to tell her about my motoringtransport costs, which are about £25 a week, so if all of that is counted then it brings my contribution back to 0.
Just need to wait for her to get back to the office so I can ring and adjust the assessment - she told me before she left I need to try and think of other disability related expenses, so I'm racking my brains now! The problem is I've incorporated so many 'extra' expenses into my budget that I don't see them as extra any more.
ETA, I've thought of a few more expenses - paper plates etc, and having to get smaller bottles of shampoo etc cos I can't lift heavy ones, and I can only use half a bottle cos after that it hurts my hands to keep squeezing. Oh, and an electric toothbrush.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
oohh fingers crossed then
I can't get a carer cause dh is expected to help meBoiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
Yeah, that's why I threw ex out, he got carer's allowance but did sweet FA - he claimed that it 'wasn't his job' to clean up after me, refused to help me shower, wouldn't do my washing up...
Oooh, I wonder if internet costs could be included, since I need it to do my shopping online.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Finally got through to them (ringing the phone number not the fax one helped) and asked for her to ring me back.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
