  • hi we have been to cab and they told us that under section 75 of the consumer credit act barclays are in breech of contract and to put this in writing to barclays which we have done,for barclays then to ring up and say that they wont cancel the contract because they are not in breech.So we have now contacted the Financial Ombudsman who are now writing to barclays which they then have 6wks to write back looks like it could take some time to sort out.

    Does this apply to everyone, or only those who were funded via Barclays?
  • Hi i have been to my local CAB today, my loan agreement is going to end in June. The CAB said that barclays can not take any money form me as they have not fulfilled their part of the agreement. This is a waiting game which is really annoying.
    Does anyone know if we can find ourselves a different trainer, then ask barclarys to fund the provider of our own choice. Personally i wouldnt want to study with a provider which i am not happy with.

    i got a letter from barclays saying my complaint will be dedicated to a complaint handler who will sort this out within the next 15 days. i can't wait for them to fanny about cos this is my future career we're talking about. i wrote this letter if anyone wants some inspiration;

    ''Re: Barclays letter dated 09th February 2010

    I have sought advice from Citizens Advice Bureau and Consumer Direct and they are saying that Barclays are not
    liable to take any money from me as they have not fulfilled their part of the loan agreement.

    I cannot wait up to 15 days for this to be sorted, so if you do not say in your next response that you are terminating the contract as you should rightly do so, I will be contacting the Financial Ombudsman with a view to getting this sorted straight away.

    I have found a course myself that i want to carry on my studies with and need to enrol as soon as possible. I am not accepting an alternative provider due to a situation that Barclays have brought upon themselves.

    I look forward to your response.

    Yours faithfully,''

    i know the next response will be them fannying about again with another excuse, but i have to try.

    Aron, please let us know what they say. We are all in the same situation. If Barclays could not continue funding Advent, then why start in the first place? its all pathetic.

    I think that pretty much sums it up.

    Get your bank to pull the money back, part of the DD guarantee is it not?
  • I will try that, just waiting for lloyds to phone me back, waiting for the same person because i hate dealing with different people all the time, and explaining the situation all the time,

    thanks for your help,
